Enterbach can be explored through two distinct themes: the Culinary Route and the history of Tegernsee marble. A hike with a specified distance is thus complemented by a cultural and historical focus. Each offers a different way to experience the place and can shape your plans for a stay.

The Culinary Route as a specific outing

The Enterbach Culinary Route is an easy, family-friendly circular hike starting in Enterbach. It is 6.8 kilometres long and takes about two hours. The distance and estimated time answer different planning questions: the kilometre figure indicates the length, while the approximate duration provides a guide for managing your time. If you are looking for a hike with a clearly stated distance, you can include these details in your daily plans.

To travel by public transport, take the Bayerische Oberlandbahn to Tegernsee, then continue by bus to the appropriate stop. Check the current timetables before setting off so you can plan your connections.

A historical connection: Tegernsee marble

The history of Tegernsee marble is also linked to Enterbach: the stone was discovered there in 1683 and quarried until around the middle of the 20th century. Among other places, it was used at the Walhalla near Regensburg and in the Munich Residenz. Its discovery and quarrying in Enterbach are thus connected to its later use in these buildings. Those interested in cultural history will find a different focus here than on the hike: the story of a stone and its use in well-known buildings.

In the wider destination of Kreuth

In the wider destination of Kreuth, the adventure trail along the Weißach runs on both sides of the river. The trail features more than 20 interactive stations. These include a water playground and a climbing course; visitors can also guess bird calls and animal tracks, and discover scents and aromas. Movement, observation and sensory activities offer different ways to engage with the trail.

The Weißach floodplain was designated a landscape conservation area in 1953. Kreuth is also home to the annual Leonhardifahrt, held every year on 6 November. The wider Kreuth area therefore combines the history of a designated conservation area with a recurring annual event.

Wildbad Kreuth also has a historical connection: its spring had been known since at least the 15th century. The bathing operation ceased in 1973. These two dates distinguish the long-known spring from the bathing operation, which ended later.

In winter, Kreuth has the Klamm-Bayerwald-Glashütte cross-country ski trail. It runs through deep snow-covered forests and small valleys towards Glashütte. Its availability depends on snow conditions. For hiking and cycling tours, the Kreuth Tourist Information Office provides information on both topics in its hiking corner; check the latest service information in advance if needed.
