Discover Teuschnitz via its nature trails and the Teuschnitz-Aue. The nature trail combines exercise with explanations of nature and the landscape; at ten kilometres long and starting at the sports ground, the FrankenwaldSteigla Arnikaweg provides concrete details to help you choose a route. There are also other signposted trails and seasonal winter activities in the surrounding area. If you’re looking for accommodation, you can first decide whether the Aue, a hike along the Arnikaweg or the winter activities will shape your stay.
Nature Trails and Hiking
Along the Teuschnitz-Aue nature trail, nine markers with symbols and QR codes explain features of nature and the landscape. The two routes answer different planning questions: the explanations take centre stage on the nature trail, while the Arnikaweg’s length and starting point are its key details. The FrankenwaldSteigla is 10 kilometres long and begins at the sports ground in Teuschnitz.
Teuschnitz also has numerous well-marked trails for hikers, mountain bikers, Nordic walkers and those out for a stroll. When choosing, you can start with your preferred way to get active. Alongside the nature trail and the Arnikaweg, other marked trails are also an option when planning your outing.
Arnica, the Aue and Nature Knowledge
In the Teuschnitz-Aue Landscape Protection Area, many meadows are home to the protected and rare medicinal plant arnica, as well as more than 50 other medicinal herbs, including Bärwurz. The Teuschnitz-Aue lies in the northern part of the Frankenwald Nature Park and is part of Bavaria’s Species and Biotope Protection Programme. This landscape brings together plant life and nature conservation.
The Arnika Academy is home to a 3,000 m² herb garden for learning and display. The academy offers seminars, lectures and workshops to share knowledge about nature. The garden and educational programmes offer different ways to explore the natural world. If you’d like to include a seminar or workshop in your plans, check the academy’s current programme in advance.
Winter Activities
Cross-country ski trails are groomed in the area around Teuschnitz during the winter months, when snow conditions allow. Winter hiking trails around Teuschnitz include the Galgenbergrunde and “Winter am Naturweg.” For planning purposes, it’s helpful to note the difference: cross-country skiing explicitly depends on snow conditions, while the two trails are listed as winter hiking options. First decide which activity interests you, and take snow conditions into account if you plan to ski.
Playground and Pilgrimage Church
The multi-generational playground in Teuschnitz has a climbing tower, a dual zip line, a balance course, a water run and a Kneipp pool. If you’re planning a visit, check the conditions in advance, as the state of the facilities may change.
The pilgrimage church “Maria, Queen of the Martyrs and the 14 Holy Helpers” in the district of Haßlach adds a cultural and religious dimension. Haßlach belongs to Teuschnitz, so the church situates a place of pilgrimage within the destination. You can include this focus alongside the nature and herbal themes when planning your stay.
