Regnitzlosau combines two circular trails with clearly different distances and waypoints. It is also home to the Baroque St. Ägidien Church in the town center and Galgenberg nearby. The themes range from specific route details to church art, nature, and local history.

Circular Trails with Different Stops

The Losauer circular trail is 4.5 kilometers long and starts at the Sparkasse parking lot. From there, it follows Unterer Mühlweg and Hopfenmühlleite to the fishponds, then continues over the wooden bridge across the Regnitz to Trogenauer Weg. The route then takes in Lerchenweg, Hohenvierschau, and Alte Hofer Straße. After passing the Catholic Church, it returns to the parking lot via Gartenstraße and Steig. This sequence brings together different local features on one loop: the fishponds, the crossing over the Regnitz, and a church are all part of the same route.

The 9.3-kilometer Kirchsteigweg also starts at the Sparkasse parking lot. It follows Hauptstraße, Schulstraße, Flurweg, and Kirchsteig to the nudist area and the water tower. It then continues via Raitschin, the group of five trees, and Schöpferloh to Brauhausgasse and back to the parking lot. In addition to stretches along roads, this route includes named points such as the water tower and the group of trees. Its route differs from that of the Losauer circular trail.

Both trails start and end at the Sparkasse parking lot, making their lengths easy to compare. The difference is 4.8 kilometers: at 9.3 kilometers, the Kirchsteigweg is a little more than twice as long as the 4.5-kilometer Losauer circular trail. This gives you a clear measure to help choose a route length. The stops also differ. So the longer trail is not simply the same sequence with extra distance, but has its own route.

Baroque Art at St. Ägidien

The Baroque St. Ägidien Church stands in the center of Regnitzlosau. Its pulpit altar was made in 1743 by the Hof sculptor Wolfgang Adam Knoll for 220 gulden. The ceiling is decorated with more than a hundred images depicting scenes from the New Testament. Two distinct aspects therefore take center stage: a single, dated work by a sculptor known by name, and an extensive ceiling program featuring biblical motifs. The altar and ceiling also differ in scale: one is a specific work from 1743, while the other comprises more than a hundred images on a shared theme. If you are considering culture as well as circular trails when planning your trip, St. Ägidien offers a specific point of interest in the town center.

Galgenberg Nearby

Nearby, the Kolonnenweg between Regnitzlosau and Nentschau passes right by Galgenberg, not far from Ziegelhütte. Galgenberg is a nature reserve and a former execution site. A current protected status and a historical association come together in the same place. The Kolonnenweg therefore adds an option nearby: a route that takes in both nature and local history. When planning your trip, you can consider this alongside the circular trails in Regnitzlosau and the church in the town center.
