Stettfeld lies in the Main Valley. The town hall, parish church and Bear Fountain are clustered around the village square; viewpoints draw the eye across the valley. This places local history and landscape side by side as distinct focal points. When planning a stay, you can consider whether architectural history, cultural attractions or a trail should take centre stage.

Town Hall, Church and Chapel

The town hall, built around 1600 with an upper half-timbered storey, defines the village square. The square is also home to the late Baroque Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary and the historic Bear Fountain. The date of the town hall and the church’s architectural style provide distinct points of reference on the same square.

St Anne’s Chapel stands in the fields surrounding Stettfeld and was built around 1700. It extends the view beyond the village square into the surrounding farmland and creates a different spatial focal point. Dating to around 1700, it is roughly a century younger than the town hall, which dates to around 1600.

Culture and Places to Eat and Drink

The local history museum can be visited by prior arrangement; book your visit in advance. The Stettfeld open-air theatre is the theatre group of Gesangverein 1862 Stettfeld e.V. Adler Bräu Bräustübla is a Franconian brewery with its own brewery restaurant and beer garden. Check current operating arrangements and opening details before your visit.

Viewpoints and Practical Information

Drei Eichen Blick offers sweeping views over Stettfeld and the Main Valley; from Spitzelberg, the view extends across the Main Valley towards the Steigerwald. One route leads to the summit cross and the grotto (1888). The different viewing directions offer a clear choice between the panorama over Stettfeld and the view further towards the Steigerwald.

The Stettfeld hiking trail can be reached by car via state road St 2277. There is ample car parking in Stettfeld. Check the current parking situation before setting off.

In the Haßberge Destination: Nature and Culture

The Haßberge destination opens up a distinctive regional setting. Haßberge Nature Park is a gently rolling low mountain range with extensive mixed forests, fields, meadows and historic vineyards. The park’s Erlebnis tours are half-day or full-day tours and follow circular routes back to their starting point. By contrast, the Castles and Palaces Hiking Trail is a 190-kilometre long-distance trail through the German Castle Corner. Thus, circular routes lasting half a day or a full day sit alongside a much longer long-distance hiking route.

The railway museum in Hofheim station presents the history and technology of the Haßfurt-Hofheim local railway. Registration is required for the interior; visits are by appointment at 0 95 23 / 13 05. Check your appointment before setting off. Bettenburg is considered a landmark of the Haßberge, while Schwedenschanze is a ring-wall fortification dating from the Hallstatt period. In Fatschenbrunn, “Hutzeln” are well known: pears dried into dried fruit according to an old tradition.
