In Schöllkrippen, the local routes can be distinguished by their focus: the Orchard Adventure Trail passes through orchards and meadows, while the cultural routes lead to a viewpoint, the railway station and notable buildings. The approximate route lengths also provide an initial guide: about two kilometres for the adventure trail and around six kilometres for the Schöllkrippen 2 Cultural Route.

Orchard Adventure Trail: nature-themed stops along a circular route

East of Schöllkrippen, the Orchard Adventure Trail has 14 stops and passes through orchards and meadows. The approximately two-kilometre circular route starts uphill from the Schützenhaus, by the Äbbelwoistammtisch Schöllkrippen’s construction trailer. This makes it a clearly nature-focused route with a manageable, stated length.

The trail explores the history of how the orchard meadows came about and how they have been used. It also introduces typical plant and animal species and presents these topics in a playful way. Visitors interested in the landscape and its species will find a distinct focus here; the stops also explore the history of how the meadows have been used.

Two cultural routes, different destinations

The Schöllkrippen 2 European Cultural Route is about six kilometres long. It starts and ends at the Schöllkrippen nature adventure pool and passes the “Alte Burg” rampart on Reuschberg. Its approximate length and named landmark help distinguish it from the shorter orchard meadow loop.

The Schöllkrippen 1 European Cultural Route is the Pasquillenpfad, a cultural circular hiking trail in Schöllkrippen. Its route passes the Kalmus viewpoint and continues to the railway station, then to the “Dreigestirn” ensemble of the St Luke’s Chapel, Town Hall (Old Castle) and Sackhaus. The sequence connects a viewpoint with several named buildings.

When choosing a route, you can therefore use its theme as a guide: the Orchard Adventure Trail focuses on meadows, plants, animals and the history of how they have been used. The Schöllkrippen 2 Cultural Route passes the “Alte Burg” rampart, while the Pasquillenpfad focuses on Kalmus and the buildings listed above. The route lengths are approximate and do not describe the same route.
