The Klausenhof, walking routes of clearly distinguishable lengths, and the sports and leisure centre showcase different sides of Herrischried. History and traditional crafts are possible focal points, as are walking and tennis. When planning a stay, it helps to decide on your main interest first. The lengths of the circular walking routes can be compared directly, while the Klausenhof combines architectural history with a glass workshop.

Klausenhof: History and Glass Workshop

The Klausenhof dates back to 1424 and combines living and working areas under one roof. This describes a type of building in which people live and work in the same structure. The farmstead stood uninhabited in Herrischried-Großherrischwand for a long time and was rescued from further decay. Both the combined living and working areas and the story of its rescue are therefore part of the farmstead’s distinctive character.

There is a glass workshop at the Klausenhof. Visitors can watch the glassmaker at work and try their hand at this traditional craft under his expert guidance. The history of the farmstead and the hands-on experience of working with glass are two different aspects of a visit. If you plan to watch or try it yourself, check the current visiting arrangements in advance.

Trails and Different Ways to Get Active

The Murgtal Trail connects the municipalities of Murg, Rickenbach and Herrischried. This offers a different point of reference from circular routes: the focus is on connecting the three municipalities. The Hotzenwald Nordic Walking Centre, by contrast, has three circular walking routes of 4, 6 and 9 km. Their distances can be compared directly: 4 km is the shortest, 6 km is in between, and 9 km is the longest. You can use your preferred route length as a practical starting point for choosing.

A barefoot path runs alongside the water-treading pool. Unlike the circular walking routes, where the distance in kilometres is the main consideration, here the pool and path are combined. Herrischried therefore offers different ways to get active: choose a circular route by its length, or combine the water-treading pool with the barefoot path.

Herrischried Sports and Leisure Centre

The Herrischried Sports and Leisure Centre has two tennis courts; rackets and balls can be hired on site. If you plan to play tennis during your stay, confirm access and equipment hire arrangements in advance. There is an adventure playground right next to the minigolf course in the centre. There are therefore two distinct points of interest here: tennis courts with equipment available for hire, and the minigolf course right beside the playground. Check current access to the playground before making firm plans to visit.

If you’re looking for hotels in Herrischried, your reason for travelling may help you decide: culture and crafts, a particular walking distance, or the facilities at the sports and leisure centre.
