Ringsheim offers several ways to shape your stay: trails exploring winegrowing and mining history, historic religious buildings, and a location that serves as a base for excursions in and around the Black Forest, as well as to Europa-Park and the Rulantica water park. To plan your stay, you can first decide whether to explore the local trails and buildings or use Ringsheim as a base for longer excursions.

Hiking Trails with Different Themes

The Ringsheim Genussrunde is a 4.9-kilometre circular trail. It starts at the Bürgerhaus, Denkmalstraße 16. The Ringsheim Glückauf-Schleife, by contrast, starts at the “Im Berg” playground on Erzstraße and is 5.0 kilometres long. It leads around the former “Grube Kahlenberg” mine and is designed as a trail rich in history. Nine information boards explain, in particular, the development of mining in Ringsheim.

The stated lengths of these two trails are close, differing by just 0.1 kilometres. The main guide to choosing between them is therefore their focus: a circular trail or mining history. The Ringsheim Wein-Kunst-Weg offers another theme, focusing on ecology and species protection in connection with winegrowing. It also starts at the “Im Berg” playground. As trail lengths and starting points may change when routes are redesigned, check the latest information before setting out.

For a regional hiking option, the Kaiserberg trail network connects Ettenheim, Ringsheim and Herbolzheim around the Kaiserberg. It therefore covers several municipalities and complements the individual local trails with a wider regional perspective.

Church, Chapel and Views over Ringsheim

The listed late-Baroque Church of St. John the Baptist, built in 1784/1785, stands in the town centre. St. John’s Chapel dates from an earlier period: it was built in the 17th century and lies east of the Alte Bundesstraße, near the Ochsenbrunnen. The two buildings therefore differ both in age and in their classification as a church and a chapel.

Another landmark is the “Im Berg” playground on Erzstraße, which offers views over Ringsheim. It is also the starting point for the Glückauf-Schleife and the Wein-Kunst-Weg. Here, a viewpoint and two trails with different themes meet.

Getting There and Planning Accommodation

Ringsheim is also a base for excursions in and around the Black Forest, as well as to Europa-Park and the Rulantica water park. The focus of your stay can guide your choice between local trails, buildings and regional destinations.
