Biberach combines local history with opportunities for outdoor activities; the municipality also includes Prinzbach. The Kettererhaus and the traces of the former silver-mining town provide historical highlights, while hiking trails, a herb garden and other activities appeal to different interests. Biberach railway station offers good train connections. Check the current timetable if your arrival depends on a specific connection.

Historic Sites in Biberach and Prinzbach

The Kettererhaus is named after its last private owner, the “Kettererschmied” (blacksmith), and is considered one of Biberach’s oldest buildings. The Kettererhaus local history museum displays local cultural artifacts related to rural work and life, customs and associations, as well as historic toys. The building’s history is thus brought together with insights into rural everyday life and local community life.

In Prinzbach, architectural traces and historical finds offer different ways to explore the history of the former silver-mining town. Behind the town hall is an exposed section of the town wall, a testament to the town’s past. Prinzbach’s former town hall houses the Stadtkammer, with finds and objects from the history of the mining town. Visits to the Stadtkammer are available on request; arrange the details in advance. The difference is clear when choosing a cultural focus: the Kettererhaus covers rural everyday life and associations, while Prinzbach focuses on mining history.

Hiking and Outdoor Activities

Biberach and its district of Prinzbach have numerous well-marked hiking trails for both active hikers and those looking for a more leisurely walk. Two historic circular trails also pass through Biberach and Prinzbach. You can choose according to your preferred focus: the hiking options range from challenging to leisurely, while the circular trails have a historical emphasis. Check current trail conditions before setting out.

The Landfrauen Prinzbach-Schönberg herb garden, with more than 100 plants, is located right beside the historic town wall in Biberach-Prinzbach. Its setting brings plant diversity and a historic fortification side by side, adding a botanical perspective to the historic sites.

The heated Waldterrassenbad outdoor pool is outside the village, in a peaceful location near the edge of the forest, with views of Biberach. It offers a different focus from the museum and historic circular trails: here, swimming and the woodland setting take center stage. Check current operating information before planning a visit.

Alpaca trekking tours are available at Bechererhof by prior arrangement. Confirm availability and details with the operator before your visit. The boccia court in Bahnhofspark is next to the mini-golf course and is free for everyone to use; check local conditions before using it. These activities have different requirements: trekking requires advance booking, while the boccia court is free to use.
