Berghaupten lies on the western edge of the Black Forest, among vineyards, meadows and forest, at the entrance to the Kinzig Valley. Well-marked hiking trails and mountain biking routes lead into the Black Forest mountains; local culture, water attractions and regional products are also part of the village’s character. Points of interest include Klingelhalde and its facilities, the mining and local history museum in the mill building, Armbrusters Hof with its farm shop, herb garden and distillery cottage, and the Brennstub-Strauße, with a terrace overlooking the vineyards.
Hiking and mountain biking
Berghaupten offers extended hikes through the local landscape. Well-marked hiking trails and mountain biking routes also lead into the Black Forest mountains. The Klingelhalde forest car park is a starting point for hikes. When choosing a route, you can consider two separate questions: Would you prefer to focus on an extended hike through the local landscape or on trails heading towards the Black Forest mountains, and would you consider a mountain biking tour? The different route options make it easier to plan your day around your preferred type of activity.
Water attractions at Klingelhalde
The Klingelhalde recreation area includes a foot-wading facility and a water play feature for children. These facilities offer something different from the hiking trails: the focus here is on wading and play. Klingelhalde thus offers two distinct activities for spending time outdoors.
Mining and local history museum
The mining and local history museum is located in the mill building at Klingelhalde. Guided tours are available on request, so arrange one in advance if you would like a tour. The museum is accessible without barriers from the car park. If you require step-free access, confirm the specific details again before your trip.
Regional dining and products
The Brennstub-Strauße has a terrace overlooking the vineyards and serves homemade tarte flambée, a traditional farm-style platter, wine and cider. The menu therefore includes both food and regional drinks. Offerings and opening hours may change, so check in advance what will be available during your visit.
Armbrusters Hof brings together a farm shop, herb garden and distillery cottage. The farm shop sells spirits, liqueurs, herbs and gifts. Its offer differs from the food and drink served at the Strauße: the farm shop focuses on products to buy, while the Brennstub-Strauße serves tarte flambée, a traditional farm-style platter, wine and cider. The business’s offerings may change, so check what is available before your visit.
Public-use hut
The Sägereck hut is open for public use; there is no barbecue area. Check local conditions and fire restrictions before using it.
