The WeinKulTOUR leads from Ilsfeld to Beilstein, combining vineyards with the romance of castles. For trip planning, Ilsfeld also offers other hiking and cycling options, a seasonal wine-tasting hut and a rich architectural history.

Hiking and cycling

As a hiking route, the WeinKulTOUR has a clearly defined destination: Beilstein. The Schozach Valley and the surrounding landscapes near Ilsfeld also offer selected routes for hikers and cyclists. The range extends from leisurely wine and woodland circuits to challenging mountain bike tours; family hikes are also available. This means a specific route sits alongside a wider selection of different tour formats.

The Schozachaue in Ilsfeld is a recreational area and a place of retreat that is also used by people from the surrounding communities. It complements the route options with a recreational destination in its own right, offering a different focus from hiking or cycling.

Wine in the vineyards

The “Im Rappen” wine-tasting hut is located in the vineyards within the municipal boundaries of Ilsfeld. Hikers, cyclists and wine lovers can enjoy wine there while taking in the beautiful views. The wine service is seasonal; check the current season’s schedule before visiting. This means you can take this seasonal wine stop into account when planning your trip.

Church and architectural history

The Protestant parish church in Ilsfeld was originally Romanesque, was later remodelled in the Gothic style and was renovated in 1869. Its architectural history therefore spans several phases: its Romanesque origins, the later Gothic remodelling and the 19th-century renovation. Ilsfeld is also home to a Late Gothic baptismal font featuring a figure of Jesus and other busts of children around its base. It adds another perspective on the town’s historic art and architecture.

Wider destination: Heilbronn

The wider destination of Heilbronn offers further regional perspectives. Heilbronn district has around 1,000 km of signposted circular day routes in the Kraichgau, Zabergäu, Weinsberger Tal and Schozach-Bottwartal. The Neckar Valley Cycle Route is also among the cycling routes highlighted in the district. This brings together circular routes through several landscapes and a named cycle route as different options for planning regional journeys.

The ruins of Weibertreu Castle are a viewpoint and a small open-air museum at the entrance to the Weinsberger Tal. The Wine and Rose Circular Trail offers a particularly scenic climb to the ruins. Both destinations are part of the wider destination of Heilbronn. Performances at the Burg Stettenfels castle festival, in the wider destination of Heilbronn, are always held outdoors; check the programme dates separately.

The GĂĽglingen Roman Museum also offers a cultural experience in the Heilbronn destination: in 2026, a family tour of the permanent exhibition is scheduled for the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. Check the specific dates before your trip.
