Saint-Vincent-De-Reins combines the Circuit 32 walking trail with the Les Filatures district and its textile history. The route starts in the village centre, leads to the industrial district and returns to the village via the former railway station. This brings walking together with a specific chapter of local history; other historical connections and a leisure park at Lac des Sapins offer additional options for your trip.

Walking the Circuit 32

The Circuit 32 Les filatures circular trail is a moderately challenging 11-kilometre hike that takes around 3 hours and 30 minutes. It starts in the centre of Saint-Vincent, leads to the Les Filatures district and returns to the village via the former railway station. Yellow markings and the route number 32 on a red background indicate the way. The difficulty, distance and time required can help you plan the walking part of your stay. Check local conditions before setting out.

Textile history along the Reins

The Les Filatures industrial district developed two centuries ago on the banks of the Reins, as the first mechanised textile factories appeared. The river enabled numerous textile factories to be established in the village and gave the hamlet of Les Filatures its name. The Reins runs along the municipality of Saint-Vincent-De-Reins. Circuit 32 leads to this district, connecting the walk with industrial history.

Religious sites and railway history

A footpath leads to the Croix Blanche de Propremont. The cross is an ex-voto and was blessed in 1933. Notre-Dame de Saint-Vincent began in the late 19th century as a Marian devotional project featuring a statue and a chapel. These two religious connections date from different periods: the year the Croix Blanche was blessed is known, while the devotional project began in the late 19th century.

The railway has its own point of historical interest: for several years, the Pont de la Côte was the terminus of the Amplepuis–Saint-Vincent-de-Reins railway line, which was served by a small railway. On the return leg of Circuit 32, the route passes the former railway station. Local history thus offers both a station on the circular trail and the former role of the Pont de la Côte as the line’s terminus.

More activities and events

Lac des Sapins is about 7 km from Saint-Vincent-De-Reins. The leisure park includes a swimming area, a sailing centre and horse-riding activities. These are different options from those on Circuit 32: the lake offers swimming, sailing and horse riding, while the circular trail is a moderately challenging hike of around three and a half hours. If you’d like to include a range of interests in your stay, you can compare these options when planning.

The Marche des cèpes is one of the most important events organised by the Saint-Vincent-De-Reins festival committee. In 2024, the traditional Marche des cèpes was scheduled for the fourth Sunday in September. If you’d like to plan your stay around it, check the current edition locally; other events and specific packages vary from year to year.
