Légny lies on a hill in the Azergues Valley. The Forêt de la Flachère offers walking trails and a botanical and forestry educational trail; mountain biking loop No. 9 runs through the south-west of the commune. The Voie du Tacot can be explored on foot or by bicycle, and the Domaine de la Mantellière offers wine-related activities. A good first step is to choose the activity you want: nature trails on foot, a cycling route or a wine visit each offer a different experience. This makes it easy to plan your trip around specific interests.

Forest trails and educational trail

The Forêt de la Flachère was developed as a place open to the public for recreation and experiencing nature. It has 3 km of laid-out and marked walking trails, as well as a 2 km botanical and forestry educational trail. The choice is about more than distance: the walking trails offer a marked route on foot, while the educational trail combines botanical and forestry topics with the walk. If you would like to focus on a particular theme during your walk, you can choose this trail. As route conditions and facilities may change, it is worth checking the latest information before your visit.

Cycling through vineyards and forests

Mountain biking loop Circuit VTT Légny No. 9 runs through the south-west of the commune, mainly through vineyards and forests. It follows the Voie du Tacot, which runs alongside the Soanan, and crosses a viaduct made of golden stone. The Voie du Tacot is an approximately twenty-kilometre section of a former railway line that has been converted into a route; it can be used on foot or by bicycle. The distinction is useful when choosing an activity: No. 9 is a mountain biking loop, while the Voie du Tacot can also be explored on foot.

There is also a cycle path along the D 385, the Route de la Vallée. At Ponts Tarrets, near the market hall, there is a tourist and sanitary facility for cyclists as part of the “Plan Vélo”.

Vineyards and visitor experiences

The Domaine de la Mantellière offers walks through the vineyards, guided vineyard visits by appointment and wine tastings; reservations are recommended for wine tastings. Each type of visit has a different focus: a walk takes you through the vineyards, a guided visit centres on explanations, and a wine tasting adds the opportunity to sample the wines. Guided visits require an appointment in advance; reservations are recommended for wine tastings. If you are planning a visit focused on wine, keep these booking requirements in mind.

A cultural image

One side of a cross depicts Christ, while the other shows the Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus. The double-sided depiction brings together two distinct Christian visual motifs and adds a cultural dimension to the nature, cycling and wine experiences.
