Wine tastings, panoramic views and trails through vineyards, cirques and woodland are among the ways to explore Chiroubles. The village brings together good food and wine, scenery and culture—from views over the Beaujolais to a chapel with a long history.

Panoramas and Terroir

La Terrasse de Chiroubles offers views of the Beaujolais slopes and the SaĂ´ne Valley. In clear conditions, the view extends to the Alps and Mont Blanc. The terrace is listed as one of the 34 Geosites of the Beaujolais. A viewpoint, an orientation table and a discovery trail introduce visitors to the landscape, its geology and the terroir of the Chiroubles cru.

Trails with Different Highlights

The 10 Crus panoramic trail starts at the Maison du Cru Chiroubles. It is 2 km long, accessible and takes about an hour. Along the way, there are panoramic views and an orientation table; the trail shares information about the ten Beaujolais crus and the local geology. This gives you a specific route of about an hour to factor into your plans.

The Circuit de Chiroubles passes through vineyards, cirques and woodland trails, offering a different focus on the landscape. While the 10 Crus panoramic trail also covers the crus and geology, the Circuit focuses on the types of landscape along the way. You can choose between the trails based on which focus interests you most.

Chapel, Church and Sculpture

The Chapelle Saint-Roch was founded in 1629 in Javernand. The chapel offers panoramic views across the Beaujolais and the SaĂ´ne Valley. In May 2023, stabilization and restoration work enabled it to reopen to the public. Check access before your visit.

Since 2023, a nighttime torchlight procession to the Chapelle Saint-Roch has taken place on December 8. Check in advance whether it will be held in a given year. The present-day Église Saint-Germain dates from 1838. Another landmark is the CHIROUBOAM: the large corten steel sculpture was installed at the Col de Durbize in Chiroubles in 2023.

Wine Tastings and Local Produce

At the wine cellars in Chiroubles, you can taste wines from the Chiroubles cru and meet local winemakers. Chiroubles is also a stop on the Beaujolais Wine Route; the program and participating experiences may vary from one edition to another. As tastings and participating cellars should be checked, it is advisable to confirm what is available before your visit.

Château de Javernand offers a visit with a wine tasting and a simple meal. This includes charcuterie, quiche, cheese, dessert and coffee. Check the reservation and group conditions in advance. Product tastings are offered at Domaine du Pressoir Fleuri in Chiroubles; you should also check the visit arrangements beforehand.
