Chazay-D'azergues offers historic attractions, trails and playful discoveries for a varied stay. The Château and Tour Magat are part of its protected heritage, the Musée de Chazay focuses on the Middle Ages, and two routes offer different points of reference. There is also the fresco with its QR code and puzzles, as well as the skatepark in the municipal sports complex. When planning your visit, you can first consider whether you would like to focus mainly on history, an easy route or playful exploration.

Château, Museum and Historic Streets

At the Château de Chazay-d'Azergues, some parts are classified as historic monuments and others are listed as historic monuments; full protection is also recorded. Tour Magat is part of the Château's protected monument area.

The Musée de Chazay focuses on the Middle Ages and the rule of the Abbots of Ainay. A stroll through narrow, lively streets reveals historic houses and architectural monuments. These include the residence of the Abbots of Ainay, a gateway, fortifications and town walls, houses dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, and a 15th-century statue of the Virgin Mary.

There are therefore two different ways to explore the history: the Musée focuses on an era and the rule of the abbots, while a stroll brings you face to face with specific buildings, fortifications and works of art. The residence of the Abbots connects the museum's subject matter with a named historic building. Houses from the 15th and 16th centuries and the 15th-century statue of the Virgin Mary provide further points of reference in time. This makes it possible to distinguish between thematic history and specific dated landmarks. The fortifications and town walls are a different type of structure from the gateway, houses and statue, so the stroll takes in both architectural features and specific works of art.

Trails with Different Points of Reference

Bord d'Azergues is an easy hiking or trail route with an elevation gain of 25 metres, suitable for all audiences. The circular route “Boucle de Lozanne à Chazay-d'Azergues” follows the Azergues towards Chazay-d'Azergues. These routes offer different points of reference to help you choose: for Bord, the easy rating and elevation gain are key; for the Boucle, it is the riverside course and direction of Chazay. You can therefore consider whether the explicitly easy route or the course along the Azergues is more important for your plans.

Fresco and Sporting Activities

Use the information board and its QR code to explore details and references in the composition. The fresco in Chazay also offers puzzles and other games for an entertaining, immersive experience for all ages. The two ways of exploring have different emphases: the QR code provides information about the composition, while the puzzles and games put playful exploration in the foreground.

The skatepark in Chazay-D'azergues is located in the municipal sports complex and adds a sporting attraction to the historic and trail-related activities.
