The Thermes de Montbrun-les-Bains offer two medical specialties: rheumatology and respiratory diseases. This gives Montbrun Les Bains a clear focus on thermal baths alongside its historic village quarter. If you would like to include treatment in your travel plans, check the current offer again before booking. However, the village’s architectural history and the different interests you can pursue while hiking also factor into choosing your destination.

Village History and Architecture

The Beffroi is a former defensive tower with battlements, arrow slits and machicolations. Battlements form the notched upper edge, arrow slits are narrow openings, and machicolations are projecting defensive structures. These features make the building’s former defensive function clear. The historic quarter of Montbrun Les Bains is entered through the former Beffroi gate. The village’s history thus brings together both the defensive tower’s architectural form and a historic entrance to the quarter.

The Église Notre-Dame also offers its own historical connection. Its interior contains wall paintings dating from the 17th to the 19th century; the oldest frescoes date from 1620. The earliest frescoes therefore date to the 17th century, while the overall period also encompasses the 18th and 19th centuries. Those interested in art and architectural history can place a specific early date within a broader period.

Another historical trace can be found by the Anary stream: below the Tremble Feuille hill, around ten mills once stood between Montbrun Les Bains and Barret-de-Lioure. Their location by the stream and between the two villages adds a landscape dimension to the village’s history. For groups, the tourist office organizes guided tours of the village, which is described as classified, by reservation. Reservation conditions may change; check them with the tourist office in advance.

Hiking: Loop Trail, Views and Geology

The Montagne de Vic hike is a marked loop trail that starts and ends in Montbrun Les Bains and is 11.62 km long. It passes through the gravel-paved streets of the old village and offers views of Mont Ventoux. The route thus combines a clearly defined loop with a walk through the historic quarter. Check the trail markings and conditions locally; views of Mont Ventoux depend on the conditions.

La Fayette is a family-friendly hike with views of Mont Ventoux and the Buc and Bergiès mountains, located northeast of Montbrun Les Bains. The two trails offer different points of interest: La Fayette stands out for its family-friendly character and named mountain views, while Montagne de Vic is described in terms of its loop, its start and finish in the village, and its length of 11.62 km. Views of the named mountains depend on the conditions.

Along the Les trois cols route, you can observe folds, faults, marl and rock layers, as well as fossils of marine animals such as ammonites and belemnites. This route offers a geological perspective alongside the village and viewpoints: rock formations and fossils are the focus here. Conditions on Les trois cols may change; check them locally.
