Albon combines an archaeological castle site, marked cycling routes, interactive games and golf. Each activity offers a different focus: history at the Tour d’Albon, scenery and views along the trails, a timed game or a round of golf. You can tailor your stay to whichever of these discoveries you want to focus on.

Tour d’Albon: Ruins and Archaeological Site

The ruins of the former castle of Tour d’Albon were listed by decree on 8 March 1982. A decree dated 11 June 2012 classified the ensemble of archaeological remains and the associated plot of land. These include the tower, remains of the former chapel and aula, the motte, walls and other masonry features.

A medieval complex was uncovered at the archaeological site, including a chapel, a palace building and outbuildings. The site therefore encompasses various types of buildings, from the chapel to the outbuildings. The Tour d’Albon is open to visitors free of charge year-round; paid guided tours for groups are available on request.

Mountain Biking Circuit and Panoramic Views

Mountain biking circuit No. 7, «Autour de la Tour d’Albon», is 18.98 kilometres long, marked, and starts and ends in Albon. On the way towards the medieval tower, the route passes through orchards and forests.

The ridge trail to the Tour d’Albon offers a different perspective. From there, panoramic views extend across the Rhône Valley to the foothills of the Ardèche, the Pilat and the Vercors. On the cycling circuit, the route through orchards and forests takes centre stage; the ridge trail offers a different focus, with views across several landscapes.

Interactive Trails Around Albon

The interactive game «Le tournoi du Dauphin de France» can be downloaded free of charge via the Baludik app. It features a 1-kilometre trail that takes about an hour and is aimed at children aged five and over. The starting point is the car park at the junction of the D301 and Route des Bourgeons in 26140 Albon.

The «La tour du Dauphin» trail goes around the archaeological castle site, taking in the landscape and local flora. Information panels tell the story of the Counts of Albon. The two activities offer different focuses: for the game «Le tournoi du Dauphin de France», the age range, trail length and approximate duration are specified; «La tour du Dauphin» combines exploration of the landscape and flora with historical interpretation.

Golf at Domaine Golf d’Albon

Domaine Golf d’Albon is located at 410 Route de Senaud, 26140 Albon. From Lyon or Valence, it can be reached via the A7, exit 12. The «Les Seigneurs» course has 18 holes, is a par 72 and is 6,000 metres long; it also features five water hazards.

The course is suitable for beginners and experienced golfers; the maximum handicap index specified is 54. These specific course details therefore complement the stated range of playing abilities. Golf enthusiasts can take this information, along with directions to the Domaine, into account when making their choice.
