Part of the gable, the jamb of a round-arched doorway and the foundations are still visible among the ruins of Notre-Dame de Lorette. Bourg-Saint-Christophe thus offers a tangible introduction to its heritage, alongside Notre-Dame de la Côtière, the present-day church and a rural wayside cross. Vineyards, a viewpoint and the Sentier de la Côtière add scenery and walking to the historical attractions. When choosing accommodation, it may be important whether you are looking for architectural history, a walking route or views across the plain.

Heritage and landmarks

Notre-Dame de la Côtière was created in 1958 by Maurice Cordier using stone from Oppède in the Vaucluse. It can be reached via Montée du Château or along a small path behind the former presbytery building. Check local path conditions before taking the small path.

The present-day church of Bourg-Saint-Christophe was completed and consecrated on 8 November 1891. The Croix Martoret, also known as the Croix Martoray, stands in the countryside at a junction of three paths, about 200 metres beyond Mas Choquet in the direction of Faramans. While the church is dated precisely, the cross’s alternative name and location by the paths help you find it. A rural chapel dedicated to Notre-Dame de Lorette is said to have stood in the hamlet of Les Brosses in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Vineyards, views and walking

An orientation table stands above the vineyards. On very clear days, it offers views across the entire plain and of the Alpine range. Long-distance visibility therefore depends greatly on the conditions on the day. If you are mainly coming for the Alpine views, a very clear sky is essential.

A tourist description dated 22 August 2026 describes the Sentier de la Côtière as an easy, 9.2-kilometre route that can start in Bourg-Saint-Christophe. Check local path conditions before setting out. With its stated distance and difficulty rating, the route answers a different planning question from the viewpoint: here, the focus is a specified distance, while the far-reaching views depend on the sky.

A report from June 2026 describes the association “Le Sentier des Vignes” as managing the Bourg-Saint-Christophe vineyard. The association follows organic farming rules and brings life to the village around its heritage. The vineyard produces table grapes as well as pressed, pasteurised and bottled fruit juice; production details may vary depending on the harvest. If you would like to include an association activity in your plans, ask locally about current options.
