A walk through Seguret can be traced through distinctive local features: the winding, cobbled Rue des Poternes runs through the village and preserves several old houses. Fountains, the belfry and Église St Denis add different architectural histories to this historic picture. There are also vineyards covering a large part of the commune, and trails ranging from a steep walk to hilltop ruins to a longer route from Crestet. This gives you the option to focus on village history, wine or hiking.

Fountains, the Belfry and the Church

The Fontaine des Mascarons dates from the 17th century. Its round basin and a column with four mascarons define its appearance; the fountain is protected as a Monument Historique. The belfry also dates from the 17th century. It has a single hand, while a bell installed in 1660 continues to strike the hours. The fountain’s shape and mascarons stand alongside a clock whose hand and chimes offer their own details about local history.

Église St Denis has a longer construction history: it was first built in the 10th century and extended in the 13th century. Several additions were made in the 17th and 18th centuries, adding a side aisle. This gives the church a different historical perspective from the fountain and belfry, both of which date from the 17th century.

Wine Country and Regional Experiences

The Séguret vineyards stretch across the commune below the Dentelles de Montmirail. They cover nearly 700 hectares, about a third of the commune’s area. Domaine de Cabasse has a 34-hectare vineyard and produces eight cuvées, including Côtes-Rhône Villages Séguret.

The Cave des Vignerons de Roaix Séguret is a dedicated venue for tastings and cellar tours: both are available by prior arrangement. Les 3 Souquets offers guided tastings of olive oil and table olives on request. Its shop features a selection of regional products related to the olive tree; there is also a santon workshop. The wine and olive experiences therefore differ both in their products and in how visits are organised.

Trails and Viewpoints

The Chemin des chapelles en pays Ventoux hiking trail, Route No. 4, runs from Crestet to Seguret. The route is listed as 15.1 kilometres long, with an elevation gain of 461 metres. Check current trail conditions before setting out. This is distinct from a steep walking path that leads from Seguret to the remains of a tower and the fortification walls on the hill. There are viewpoints over the landscape along this path.

These details describe two different kinds of walking experience: a route between Crestet and Seguret with a stated distance and elevation gain, and a steep walk to the hilltop ruins. No distance is given for the second route, so its walking time cannot be compared. If you plan to travel with Autocars Lieutaud, Seguret is served from Avignon and Vaison-la-Romaine. Check the timetable for your travel date.

Seasonal Cultural Events

At Christmas, Les Amis de Séguret organise the mystery play Li bergié de Séguret. A Christmas pastoral has been performed by residents of Seguret since 1960. The Cacho Fio ceremony also takes place on 24 December. The local santon exhibition is held in July and August, as well as December and January. If you are planning your trip around a performance or exhibition, check the dates in advance. The Musiques à Séguret initiative also organises concerts in Seguret.

When choosing when to travel, you can therefore consider different priorities: the architectural history and wine-growing landscape are not tied to the event periods mentioned, while the santon exhibition and Christmas traditions take place at specific times. This lets you decide whether to visit Seguret primarily for its historic details, wine and olive experiences, a trail or a particular cultural event.
