Juan-Les-Pins’ public sandy beaches stretch from the town centre to the edge of town in the direction of Golfe-Juan. There is also a pine grove by the sea, summer events and buildings from different eras. When planning your trip, it’s worth deciding in advance whether beach days, cultural events or architectural history will be your main focus.

Sandy beaches and promenade

The public sandy beaches have lifeguard stations, food and drink options, showers and toilets. These facilities may vary seasonally. Promenade du Soleil begins at the end of Boulevard Edouard Baudoin. Here you’ll find cafés, restaurants and private beaches; the promenade also offers views of the sea.

One summer event to look out for is the night market on Promenade du Soleil, held every year from 1 July to 31 August. Exact opening hours may change, so check the current schedule before visiting. The market and the beach are separate activities, and you can take each into account when planning your visit.

Pinède Gould: pine grove and culture

The Pinède is a pine grove by the sea, in the heart of Juan-Les-Pins. In the northern section, there is a children’s playground, a carousel, a sculpture by Sosno and benches beneath umbrella pines. Individual installations may change; if one is important to your visit, check its current status in advance.

Every July, the Pinède Gould becomes an outdoor event venue. It has hosted the Jazz à Juan festival since 1960. Another event venue is the Palais des Congrès de Juan-les-Pins, which hosts numerous public events and private conferences throughout the year. The programme changes, so check the latest information for specific dates.

History and architecture

Juan-Les-Pins was founded as a seaside resort in 1882. Its architectural history can also be traced through various milestones: Château de Juan-les-Pins was built around 1860. Hôtel Belles Rives stands on the site of the former Villa Saint-Louis and was extended and modernised in the Art Deco style in 1931.

The ochre-coloured Villa la Vigie looks like a small medieval castle and was owned by Frank and Florence Jay Gould. Artists and writers were invited to stay at the villa, including Jean Cocteau, Estée Lauder, Charlie Chaplin and Pablo Picasso. Palais Biagini combines Baroque and Art Deco elements; it housed a Genoese family who fled fascism in the 1920s. Auberge du Pin doré was built in 1926 and has had its original colours and friezes restored. Juan-Les-Pins brings together the history of a seaside resort, different architectural styles and personal cultural stories.

Guided tours and boat hire

The Tourist and Convention Bureau offers the guided tour “Juan-les-Pins, de la Belle Epoque aux Années Folles”. It covers the history of the seaside resort, Belle Époque villas and gardens, palaces and dance halls of the Roaring Twenties, and the Pinède Gould. Booking and availability may change; check in advance whether a suitable date is available.

If you’d like to spend some time on the water, Easy Yachting offers boat rentals from Port Gallice for a day or a week, with or without a crew. Availability and terms may also change, so check the current offers to see how this option fits in with the rest of your plans.

Plan your arrival and accommodation
