Revest-des-Brousses is located in the Luberon Regional Natural Park. A very easy village walk, historic buildings and skies suitable for stargazing offer different focal points for a stay. The route’s length and approximate duration provide a concrete framework; the church, fortifications, starry skies and a cycling route themed around the forest appeal to other interests.

On foot to the gate and remnants of the wall

The “Tour du Village” is a very easy 1.9-kilometre circular family walk that takes about an hour. It leads to the Portail des Mourres and some remnants of the medieval wall. This makes the route a clearly defined way to combine a walk with historic stops.

The Portail des Mourres dates from the 15th century and has machicolations. These defensive features draw attention to the gate’s defensive architecture. In addition to the gate, the route passes some remnants of the medieval wall; a named structure and surviving traces of a wall are thus at the heart of this historic walk.

Architectural history: church and castles

The former castle in Revest-des-Brousses dates from the 17th century. It once housed the town hall and, before that, a prison. Both its construction period and its two former uses are therefore part of its history.

The Church of Saint CĂ´me et Damien, in turn, features two distinct architectural characteristics: the side aisles date from the 14th century, and the bell tower is square. The age of the side aisles places one part of the church in its historical context, while the shape of the tower offers an architectural contrast.

At Château du Villard, a different aspect of architectural history takes centre stage: it is a fortified castle and was renovated by its owner. Together with the machicolations of the Portail des Mourres, this makes it possible to consider the defensive character of two different structures as a distinct theme; the former castle, by contrast, tells a story of its past functions.

Starry skies and cycling

Revest-des-Brousses carries the “Village Étoilé” label and has a preserved starry sky suitable for stargazing. This adds a different focus for a stay to the architectural history: those interested in astronomy can also choose the village for this reason. Historic architecture and stargazing are thus two clearly distinct themes to choose between.

The cycling route “À vélo entre les sources du Largue et du Calavon” offers another distinct focus. A route description dated 15 August 2026 highlights the valuable deciduous trees in the Fuyara forest, including sessile oaks. The cycling route can thus be distinguished from the Tour du Village by its nature theme: one leads to specific destinations in the village and has an approximate walking time, while the other focuses on the forest and tree species.

Accommodation and length of stay

There is a specific municipal note to help with overnight planning: visitors can camp for one or two nights at the Aire d'accueil, which also has a bicycle station. The time details relate to two different questions: the village walk takes about an hour, while the camping option is intended for one or two nights. This helps distinguish the duration of an outing from the length of a stay.
