A view through a wrought-iron grille, a communal bread oven and a 2,050-metre zip line represent very different sides of Enchastrayes. The village combines cultural details with activities around Le Sauze; when planning your trip, it is worth organising these themes according to your interests.
Chapel: a view of the furnishings from outside
The Saint-Roch Chapel, dedicated to Saint Roch, is in Le Sauze. A municipal notice dated 9 May 2025 described it as having been renovated shortly before. Through the wrought-iron grille, you can view the antique furnishings and fully restored statues from outside. The exterior view thus draws attention not only to the building but also to its specific furnishings. If you are interested in sacred art and local history, you can include the chapel in your itinerary by focusing on these visible details.
Zip line, hiking route and downhill biking
The Sauze Super Line offers a different kind of experience. The zip line is 2,050 metres long in total and is divided into two sections with an intermediate platform. It starts at the top of the Brec chairlift and ends in the Le Sauze 1700 ski area. Its length and two sections answer two different planning questions: how far the zip line extends and how it is divided. For hiking, the Tour des Brecs is one of the routes around Le Sauze. The Le Sauze Bike Park has nine downhill trails across four different difficulty levels. This gives you a choice of three activity types: zip lining, hiking and downhill biking. At the bike park, the number of trails and the difficulty levels also provide specific points of comparison.
Bread tradition in summer
The FĂŞte du pain in Enchastrayes takes place every summer. At this festival, loaves of bread and pizzas are baked in the communal oven. Traditional techniques are preserved and flavours from the past are brought back. The festival brings together specific baked goods and a recurring custom. In the past, the communal bread ovens of Enchastrayes served the respective hamlets as shared ovens for baking bread. The former function of the ovens and the festival held every year represent two different time frames in the bread-making tradition.
Village scenery and views
The landscape offers two distinct perspectives. La Conche is considered a typical mountain hamlet, with chalets, farm buildings and a chapel. Another perspective is a spectacular view from a viewpoint of the sun setting over the valley. In one case, attention is drawn to the built landscape; in the other, to the view across the valley.
