Parzac offers two distinct sides of rural life: the Jardin des Murets lies in the Sonnette valley on a limestone plateau; the walking trails draw attention to a river crossing, the village centre and neighbouring communes. This combination offers several specific points of interest for a stay. Would you rather explore landscaped garden designs, local heritage or different routes? These interests can also guide your search for a holiday rental in Parzac.

Walking trails with different points of interest

The Sentier des 2 ponts et des 3 communes connects Parzac with Le Grand-Madieu and Saint-Claud. It crosses the Sonnette via a viaduct and passes through idyllic rural landscapes in all three communes. The river crossing and viaduct provide a clear point of reference, while the landscapes of the three places are also part of the route’s description.

The Sentier de la Tierce offers different points of interest: it begins in the centre of Parzac, passes historic monuments and descends to the Lavoir de Tierce. The Charente landscape is also part of the route description. If you compare routes by their starting point and named destination, you can distinguish the Tierce from the Sentier des 2 ponts et des 3 communes: here, the village centre and washhouse help orient you; there, the route connects three communes and crosses the viaduct.

Another walking route listed in Parzac is Route N°1 Parzac–Beaulieu-sur-Sonnette. The route name itself identifies Beaulieu-sur-Sonnette as the destination. This gives you a choice of different route themes: connecting several communes via the viaduct, starting in the village centre and descending to the washhouse, or following the route to Beaulieu-sur-Sonnette.

Garden designs in the Sonnette valley

The Jardin des Murets adds a landscaped garden to the range of walking themes. A 2015 garden description places it in the Sonnette valley on a limestone plateau and mentions dry-stone walls and boxwood hedges, a cottage garden and a hanging garden, as well as native wildflowers, woven hedging and topiary. These different design elements sit side by side: walls and hedges provide structure, while wildflowers and topiary create different planting styles. This makes the garden a distinct point of interest for travellers interested in design and landscape. Its described features offer a different focus from a walk across the viaduct or down to the washhouse.

Fontaine Saint-Roch and Église Saint-Roch

The Fontaine Saint-Roch is also described in terms of its architectural details. A tourist description updated on 18 July 2022 mentions two long basins. The older one has two stone basin rims, each with ten stone seats, and is surrounded by a low wall; the newer one has two grooved basin rims. The seats and surround are part of the description of the older structure, while the grooved rims are noted for the newer basin.

The stained glass at the Église Saint-Roch de Parzac has been restored. The work was supported by the Patrimoine de Parzac association and the municipality; a report dated 27 November 2017 covers the restoration. Along with the historic monuments on the Sentier de la Tierce, the restored stained glass provides another cultural point of interest in Parzac.
