Élincourt-Sainte-Marguerite offers several trails that reveal different aspects of nature: hiking, mountain biking and horse-riding trails start at the Base Nature et Randonnée; one interpretive trail focuses on the forest, and another educational trail explores the wetland. There is also protected art and a church choir classified as a historic monument. This gives you a nature-and-culture focus when choosing where to stay: you can decide based on the type of activity, the forest theme or the wetland experience.

Trails starting at the Base Nature et Randonnée

The Base Nature et Randonnée is located in an “Espace Naturel Sensible” on the edge of the Département forest of the Thiescourt Massifs. Several hiking, mountain biking and horse-riding trails start there, including “Le Bois d’Élincourt”. The base can be visited independently at any time. It is therefore both a starting point for various activities and a destination for an independent visit.

The circular trail “La Montagne du Paradis” provides specific guidance on distance and time: it is six kilometres long, takes approximately one hour and 40 minutes, and starts at the Base Nature et Randonnée. The distance specifies the route length, while the approximate duration gives you a time frame for planning. This makes it possible to fit the walk into a day’s stay without treating the approximate duration as a fixed schedule. The interpretive trail of the Petite Suisse d’Élincourt also introduces the natural, geological and historical heritage of the forest. If you are particularly interested in these three forest-related topics, this offers a different focus from the circular walk, whose time and distance are specified.

An educational trail in the wetland

The wetland trail “Découverte des mares” focuses on a different theme. Nine signs provide information and brainteasers. The trail also has a downloadable activity booklet for children aged eight and over. If you are planning a visit with children in this age group, you can download the booklet in advance and include it as a specific activity resource in your preparations. The nature trails therefore have different focuses: forest topics sit alongside information and activities about the wetland.

Art and a church visit

There are also specific points of interest for culture enthusiasts. The painting “Sainte Marguerite” in the Église Sainte-Flore has been listed as a protected movable object under historic monument protection since 23 January 2008. The choir of the church in Élincourt-Sainte-Marguerite is classified as a historic monument. Alongside the nature trails, there is therefore an individual work of art and an architectural part of the church; the forest, wetland and religious art offer different points of interest when choosing where to visit.

The church is not open to the public outside service times. A guided tour can be arranged on request through the town hall. Please therefore arrange such a visit with the town hall in advance.
