Trélou-Sur-Marne offers several ways to experience Champagne and the landscape: tours lead to a traditional press and cellars, tastings have different focuses, and the “La pétillante demoiselle” route climbs through the vineyards and offers views of the meanders of the Marne. Saint-Médard Church adds a historical dimension. When planning your trip, it is worth first choosing what you would like to focus on: learning about production, discovering tasting formats, experiencing the vineyards or including a cultural site.

Champagne, tastings and producer visits

At Champagne Fleury-Gille, you can visit a traditional press and the Champagne cellars. The producer also explains how Champagne is made and leads a tasting of two cuvées. The experience combines a visit to specific parts of Champagne production with an explanation of the process and a tasting.

Champagne Couvent-Lémery offers a visit to the estate followed by a free tasting. Visits are preferably by appointment. Here, the tasting follows the estate visit; this differs from Fleury-Gille’s combination of the press, cellars, an explanation of production and a tasting.

At Champagne Philippe Mallet, you can choose between two different experiences: a 4×4 drive through the vineyards and tastings of individual vineyard parcels at the foot of the vineyards. The tastings feature Champagnes made from Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Reservations may be required for the drive and the tastings. The drive focuses on the vineyards as a landscape, while the tastings are specifically tied to individual parcels and the three grape varieties mentioned.

Champagne Veuve Olivier et Fils offers private tastings in a reception room with panoramic views over the Marne Valley. Here, the tasting and valley views are part of the same experience; this distinguishes the offer from Mallet’s parcel-specific tastings at the foot of the vineyards.

The tasting experiences can be distinguished by their respective focus: Fleury-Gille combines an explanation of production with two cuvées, Mallet focuses on parcels and grape varieties, and Veuve Olivier et Fils combines private tastings with views over the Marne Valley. At Couvent-Lémery, the free tasting follows the estate visit.

Vineyards and Saint-Médard

The “La pétillante demoiselle” route has a different focus from the tastings: it climbs through the vineyards and offers views of the meanders of the Marne. The climb makes the journey itself part of the landscape experience. As an activity, the route differs from a visit to a Champagne producer: here, the focus is on the vineyards and views; there, on production or tasting.

Saint-Médard Church is near the route and adds a historical perspective to the wine and landscape themes. It was built between the 11th and 13th centuries; its west portal is associated with the church’s designation as a historic monument. Access to the church interior may vary. For travelers interested in cultural heritage, Saint-Médard offers another focus alongside the Champagne experiences and vineyard route.
