La Fosse-De-Tigné combines hiking, religious heritage, architectural history and wine. Two hikes start at Place des Perrières; the Circuit Patrimoine et Vignoble is a circular route that starts and ends in La Fosse-De-Tigné. At Clos du Beugnon, tours of the winery and wine tastings are available, but must be booked in advance.

Hiking and Scenery

You can park at Place des Perrières, where two hikes of 8.4 and 10.4 km start. The Circuit Patrimoine et Vignoble is 10.16 km long and starts and ends in La Fosse-De-Tigné. If choosing by distance, the 8.4 km hike stands out as the shorter option; the circuit and the 10.4 km hike are almost the same length. This gives you a choice between a route of just over eight kilometres and two options of around ten kilometres. For the longer options, another difference lies in their described format: the circuit is explicitly identified as a circular route, while the two hikes start at Place des Perrières. There is also a waterfall at the foot of the granite rock at Place des Perrières. The square thus combines parking and two hike starting points with a distinctive feature of the landscape.

Church and Architecture

The single-nave, wood-panelled nave of the Church of Saint-Hilaire dates from the 11th century. A nave is the main area of a church; single-nave means it has one main aisle. The wood panelling is another feature of the nave. The church also has a Romanesque baptismal font in the shape of a scallop shell, decorated all around with four carved faces. It is made of limestone, possibly local falun; the cylindrical base is made of the same material. The nave and the baptismal font can be viewed on two different scales: the dated church interior on the one hand, and a single object with its own form, material and figures on the other.

Religious Heritage and Wine

The Abbey of Saint-Florent established a priory in La Fosse-De-Tigné. Seven sites with crosses are also part of the commune’s cultural and religious heritage; the crosses are small monuments. The Manoir des Roches was remodelled several times in the 18th century. The estate includes a well-preserved dovecote with dormer windows. Dormer windows are window structures that project from the roof. The 11th-century nave and the repeated remodelling of the Manoir in the 18th century mark different periods in the area’s architectural history.

At Clos du Beugnon, winery tours and wine tastings are available by prior appointment only. If you plan to take part in either, arrange the appointment in advance; the booking requirement applies to both the tour and the tasting. The residents restored the private Cabane à vigne in La Fosse-De-Tigné. The washhouse in La Fosse-De-Tigné was restored as a place to take a relaxing break.
