A landscaped seafront promenade, villas in a range of styles and two distinctive cultural offerings give La Baule-Escoublac several different appeals. You can plan your stay around what interests you most: getting active by the water, architecture, events or historic aircraft. The places below offer different focal points—from a named outdoor route to a guided museum tour.

Seafront Promenade and Outdoor Exercise

The landscaped Promenade de mer forms a nearly two-kilometre-long seafront promenade between Esplanade François André and Quai Inverness. Along the way, it passes Esplanade Benoît and Quai Rageot de la Touche. If you’re planning a walk by the water, the endpoints set the boundaries, while the two points in between describe the route in more detail. This gives you a specific route to plan around, rather than just a general reference to the coast.

If you’d rather exercise at stations than follow a seafront route, Forêt d’Escoublac has a 1,350-metre fitness trail with around forty stations. The practical difference is that the promenade focuses on walking along the shore, while the trail offers a set distance with individual exercise stations. Access conditions for the trail may change; check them before your visit.

For cycling, La Baule-Escoublac’s mobility app makes it easier to find your way: it shows the nearest stations and provides routes to them. As digital service information can change, it’s best to check the app’s features before making specific plans.

Chapelle Sainte-Anne and Villa Styles

Chapelle Sainte-Anne brings together architectural history and contemporary culture: the former neo-Romanesque chapel was built in the late 19th century and converted into a cultural venue in 1989. The term “neo-Romanesque” places the chapel in a style inspired by Romanesque architecture. Exhibitions, concerts and artistic events are held there throughout the year. Two aspects may be of interest when deciding whether to visit: its former role as a chapel and its neo-Romanesque style, on the one hand, and its varied events programme, on the other. If a particular concert or event is the reason for your visit, check the dates for your travel period.

The villas in the seaside resort of La Baule also bring together regionalist, Art Deco and Belle Époque styles. This is a different way to explore the area’s architecture from looking at a single neo-Romanesque building: here, three style names draw attention to the variety of the villas.

Historic Aviation at the Museum

The Musée Aéronautique Presqu'île Côte d'Amour focuses on historic aircraft. It is located at La Baule-Escoublac airfield and is dedicated to bringing these machines back to life. The museum maintains around twenty notable aircraft restored by its teams. Guided museum tours are led by aviation enthusiasts. This makes the museum different both from exploring the architecture of the seaside resort and from the year-round cultural events at Chapelle Sainte-Anne: the focus here is historic aviation and a guided tour. If you’re planning a guided tour in particular, check the museum’s latest visitor information before travelling.
