Port du Hâble, the neighboring beach and scenic trails give Omonville-la-Rogue a distinctive coastal character. When planning your visit, you can choose from different focuses: the harbor and beach, walks, water sports, and culture at Le Tourp.

Harbor, Beach and Town Center

Port du Hâble is a natural deep-water harbor protected by a stone breakwater. The Vallace stream flows into the fishing and pleasure boat harbor. Omonville-la-Rogue beach lies right next to Port du Hâble, and the GR®223 trail also runs along the beach. This brings the harbor and beach together in the same coastal area, while the walking trail follows the coastline.

The harbor’s building materials are also noteworthy: Cambrian conglomerates and arkose were used to build Port du Hâble. In the town center, the 13th-century Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste dominates the scene. It is dedicated to John the Baptist. The harbor and church thus provide contrasting focal points: the fishing and pleasure boat harbor basin here, and a defining building in the town center there.

Walking and Views

Above the harbor, the Sentier des Douaniers runs across the former fort, offering impressive views. A Le Tourp hiking route continues along the GR®223 toward the small harbor of Omonville-la-Rogue. The loop to the harbor is listed as taking two and a half hours. The actual duration may vary depending on pace and conditions, so it is best to use this estimate as a planning guide.

Another named hiking option is the “Sur les pas de Jean-François Millet” route, which can start at Port du Hâble. The route information provides different points of reference for choosing a walk: a viewpoint above the harbor, a loop with a stated duration, and a possible start directly at Port du Hâble.

Water Sports, Harbor Festival and Cuisine

The Pôle Nautique Hague base in Omonville-la-Rogue offers water sports activities from the age of five. Group or individual lessons and rental options are available; the exact selection of activities may change. This lets you choose between lesson formats and rental options. Introductory scuba diving sessions are also offered in Omonville-la-Rogue; availability depends on the provider.

The traditional Fête du Port d’Omonville-la-Rogue harbor festival takes place at Port du Hâble and returns with new editions. Dates and programs vary. If you would like to plan your stay around the festival, check the event dates for your intended travel period.

In Omonville-la-Rogue, you can enjoy seafood on a terrace; restaurant offerings may change. The Cotentin blue lobster is also known as a local specialty of the Cotentin coast. Its availability depends on the season and local supply. When choosing a restaurant, you can ask what is currently on offer.

Culture and Activities at Le Tourp

At Le Tourp, visitors can discover La Hague through permanent and temporary exhibitions. The exhibition program may change. An immersive performance, “Un trésor au bout du monde,” tells the story of La Hague and its inhabitants across five animated, staged rooms. The exhibitions and performance thus offer different ways to explore the region’s themes.

Le Tourp also offers hands-on activities for children and adults, including leatherworking, felting and pottery. The specific activities may vary. If you would like to include culture and hands-on experiences in your stay, you will find this kind of activity here alongside the exhibitions; at the harbor, the focus is instead on coastal scenery, trails and water sports.
