Champcey offers two circular walks with the same starting point, as well as the historic Chemin de Saint-Michel and the Église Notre-Dame, for exploring on foot. When planning, you can distinguish between these options by route length, walking time and theme: local walks, a pilgrimage route with views of the bay, and a mountain biking route each offer a different focus.

Circular walks and pilgrimage route

Both La Boucle du Manoir and La Boucle des Fourches start at Place de la mairie. The Manoir walk is 3.5 km long and takes about 50 minutes to walk. The Fourches walk is 4.2 km, making it 0.7 km longer. Both circular walks have the same starting point. Their shared start and different lengths make them easy to compare; the approximate time given is for the Manoir walk. It helps with planning your time.

La Boucle du Manoir passes the Église de Champcey, with its altarpiece, and the cemetery. The walk also offers a view of the Château de Chantore. Church art, the cemetery and the view of the château provide different points of interest along the route.

The Chemin de Saint-Michel is an alternative route to the Chemin aux Anglais to Mont-Saint-Michel and passes through Champcey. As a historic pilgrimage route, it differs in theme from the two circular walks. It runs mostly along unpaved paths and is well signposted; it also offers views of the Baie du Mont-Saint-Michel. This route brings together a historic connection, varied path surfaces and scenic views.

The La Boucle VTT loop is a 35 km mountain biking route whose route map includes Champcey. At 35 km, it is on a different scale from the two walking loops of 3.5 and 4.2 km. The options described therefore include both circular walks and a longer cycling route.

Church art and local history

The Église Notre-Dame de Champcey has a remarkable high altar. The altarpiece was restored in 2017. The choir contains two statues from the altarpiece that are listed as cultural heritage objects: the Virgin and Child and Saint Joseph. The restoration date refers to the altarpiece, while the listing applies to the two statues. This distinction helps separate the larger altar feature from the individual figures.

Another historical reference dates back to 1944: following the landing, a camp for American soldiers was set up on a field in the municipality of Champcey, between Fondraye and Champs Guillaume. The location and historical context place this event in Champcey's history without associating it with the stops on the circular walks.
