The Church of Saint-Maurice and its architectural history
The Church of Saint-Maurice was listed as a Monument historique on 30 October 2007. The protection covers the entire church, including the wall surrounding the parish grounds. The large rectangular nave dates from the 12th century. As the church’s main longitudinal space, it is a tangible architectural landmark; the listing, however, applies to the entire church building, including the surrounding wall.
Walking, mountain biking or playing tennis
The Parcours Santé is located at the upper end of Rue de l’Eglise. It is a walking trail with two difficulty levels. Check local access conditions before your visit. If you’re planning an active outing, you can distinguish the Parcours Santé from the mountain biking trail, which is also in Vesly: it also has two difficulty levels, but is dedicated to mountain biking. Having the same number of difficulty levels does not make them the same trail; first choose the kind of activity you want, then select the appropriate level.
Another sporting option is Vesly Tennis, which has a tennis court in the village centre. If you’d like to include tennis in your plans, check the booking and access arrangements beforehand. This lets you consider the court as a separate option alongside the two trails, without confusing the different activities.
Cider, a workshop and a farm
The Cidrerie du Mont Viné is located on a farm dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Its three-hour workshop introduces the steps involved in making cider: visitors learn about the process and then blend their own cider. You can plan for it as a dedicated block of time. As participation conditions may change, it’s best to confirm the details before your visit.
The cidery’s products include cider, apple juice, non-alcoholic sparkling wine, eau-de-vie, infused liqueurs, jellies and fruit pastes. The selection therefore goes beyond cider to include fruit products and other drinks. As the range may change, it’s a good idea to confirm the availability of specific products in advance. The workshop and product selection cater to different interests: the workshop covers the production process and blending your own cider, while the product list gives an overview of what’s available.
Planning a paramotor flight
D’Yves Air Pub’s paramotor flights take off from Vesly; introductory flights are also available. They require a reservation and are weather-dependent. This calls for a different kind of planning than the trails or tennis court: don’t treat the flight as a definite part of your itinerary until your reservation and take-off arrangements have been confirmed with the operator. Confirm the take-off location with the operator as well. This way, the weather dependency remains part of your plans rather than being overlooked as a minor detail.
