Discover Le Neubourg through two different focuses: historic buildings and collections on the one hand, and activities on the Voie Verte on the other. This contrast brings the local highlights into focus as you plan your trip: architecture, anatomy and agricultural craftsmanship alongside outdoor activities.

Church, Château and Museums

The Church of Saint-Paul Saint-Pierre was rebuilt in the 15th century. Its architectural features include a triangular choir and three naves; the stained-glass windows are signed by Barillet. The Church of Saint-Paul is nicknamed the “Cathedral of the Fields.” On 6 August 1938, Saint-Paul Saint-Pierre was designated a historic monument. The rebuilding, architectural form and stained glass offer different points of interest if you are interested in historic architecture.

Another historic landmark is the Vieux Château du Neubourg, built by the de Beaumont family in the 12th century. Its construction history therefore dates back further than the church’s 15th-century rebuilding.

The Musée d’Ecorché d’Anatomie features a local collection of Auzoux anatomical models. A donation from the Auzoux workshops made the collection accessible to the public. The exhibits are accompanied by manufacturing equipment, including molds and presses. A second room displays numerous Auzoux models of fauna and flora. The museum visit therefore covers both the models and the equipment associated with their production.

The Musée d’Ecorché d’Anatomie is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. Check the opening hours before you set off if you plan to visit. The Musée des Charrons et Forgerons offers a different focus: it displays the complete collection of ploughs manufactured by Henri Bonnel’s company up to 1946. Unlike the anatomical models, the focus here is on agricultural equipment.

Exploring the Voie Verte

The Voie Verte runs between Évreux and Le Bec Hellouin. From Le Neubourg, it leads toward Évreux, Harcourt or Le Bec Hellouin. Motor vehicles are not permitted on the route. It is suitable for rollerblading, walking, cycling and jogging, and is also accessible to people with reduced mobility.

For cycling plans, the Pays du Neubourg tourist office provides bicycle repair kits, a pump and secure bicycle parking. The office has been awarded the “Accueil Vélo” label. This information gives you a clear idea of the cycling services available there, without implying that additional services are available along the route itself.

Getting There and Planning

Bus route 214 connects Honfleur, Le Neubourg and Évreux. If you are planning to travel by bus, check the timetable before your trip, as times may change. This lets you consider your journey alongside the choice between the town’s cultural highlights and activities on the Voie Verte.
