Montagudet can be explored through several specific interests: architectural history, hiking, animal visits and seasonal direct sales. For planning purposes, it is worth considering these separately. The hiking routes have different landmarks, while the animal park offers different ways to visit; farm sales, meanwhile, depend on the days of the week and the season.

Church and architectural history

The Église Saint-Sulpice has been listed as a Monument historique since 1972. It has Romanesque origins and a semicircular apse. At the end of the 15th century, a large chapel was added beside the Romanesque church. This brings together a Romanesque building and a later extension. The dates refer to different things: the late 15th century relates to the chapel’s construction, while 1972 is the year it was listed as a Monument historique. This distinction is helpful when looking at the architecture, as it separates the church’s development from its later heritage status.

Hiking trails and navigation

The Chemin des Pastourels is a 10 km circular hike starting in Montagudet and designated as a hiking trail. Part of it follows a forest track through the woods. The circular route and its length provide a clear framework for planning your day; the stretch through the woods adds a sense of the trail’s character. The full circular route is 10 km long; the forest track is one section of it. Check the route details again before setting out.

The PR 1 – Sur les routes de Montagudet route passes by the Moulin de Filhol. The Croix de Pastourel is also on the route, near a fire hydrant. These are two specific waypoints. By comparison, the Chemin des Pastourels is defined mainly by its starting point, circular layout and 10 km length. When choosing a hike, you can weigh up two different ways of navigating: a circular trail with a stated length or a route identified by the Moulin de Filhol and the Croix de Pastourel.

Anim’o Quercy: self-guided walk or tour

Anim’o Quercy is home to 300 domestic and exotic animals in a five-hectare park. For a self-guided visit, there is a trail with information at each enclosure. Guided tours with explanations and direct contact are also available. The choice is therefore between exploring independently and joining a guided tour. Animal numbers and visit options may change; check the latest information before your visit, especially if one of the two options is important to your plans.

Direct sales by day of the week and season

Ferme de Benoit Lasguignes in Montagudet sells fruit and seasonal vegetables directly. Direct sales take place on Mondays and Fridays from 2:30 pm to 7 pm, except in January, February and March. Buying from the farm therefore depends on specific days of the week and months, not just on when you are in Montagudet. Check the opening times before your visit if you plan to buy directly from the farm. For a short stay, your travel day is just as important as the season.
