Strenquels combines active exploration with a rural cultural identity. Hiking trails, a valley viewpoint, events, a farm visit by appointment and contemporary art offer a range of experiences. When planning your trip, you can prioritize these individually: would you like to devote your time mainly to a hike, an event or a cultural discovery?

Hiking Trails and Valley Views

The Chemin des Ecoliers is 4.8 km long and has 135 m of cumulative ascent. These two figures describe different aspects of the route: the length indicates the distance covered, while the cumulative ascent adds the elevation gained along the way. When planning your day, consider both figures rather than looking only at the number of kilometres. The trail starts at the car park opposite the boules court; check parking availability when you arrive.

The Parcours belvédère leads to a viewpoint overlooking the valley. How clearly the valley can be seen depends on the weather and vegetation. The Chemin des écoliers de Ripane à Strenquels is a municipal hiking trail and was created in 2022 as the first municipal trail. Check the trail conditions and markings on site.

Events and Visits

La Strenqueloise takes place annually and is traditionally held in late October. It includes mountain biking, road cycling, hiking and trail running. Check the exact date for the year of your trip; the mix of activities may also change in future editions.

The Randonnée Gourmande des trois fours invites you to discover the rural heritage of the municipality through gastronomy. It includes three routes of 10, 12.5 and 14 km. There is a four-kilometre difference between the shortest and longest routes, making route length a clear selection criterion. Check dates and availability in advance. The two events offer different experiences: La Strenqueloise brings together several sports, while the Randonnée Gourmande combines hiking with gastronomy and rural heritage. Your choice will therefore depend on both the mix of activities you want and your preferred route length.

Visits to GAEC des Demois’ailes in the hamlet of Sangou in Strenquels are available by appointment. Confirm the arrangements before your visit.

Art, Heritage and Hotel Planning

The Galerie Louie in Strenquels is housed in a former tobacco drying shed and has a contemporary art programme. The building’s former use is part of the gallery’s connection to the area, while its programme focuses on contemporary art. Individual exhibitions and cultural offerings may change. The Église Saint-Blaise de Strenquels is dedicated to Saint Blaise; this religious dedication provides another cultural point of interest alongside contemporary art.

When looking for a hotel in Strenquels, the reason for your trip can determine the timing. If you plan to attend La Strenqueloise, first check the date of that year’s event; a visit to GAEC requires an appointment in advance. You can then check accommodation availability for your preferred travel dates.
