Cornebarrieu can be explored through a range of interests: a wooded park in the town centre and a municipal nature park offer ways to enjoy the outdoors. There is also an open-air theatre, a medieval bridge and buildings with historical connections. The town also offers a fairytale adventure in a protected natural setting. When planning your visit, you can first decide whether to focus on walks, culture or architectural history.

Green spaces for walking and observing

Parc Joseph Donat is a wooded park in the town centre that invites visitors to relax. Around forty trees have signs giving their French and Latin names, botanical families and regions of origin. If you would like to take a closer look at individual trees, the signs offer more than just their names: they also list each tree’s botanical family and origin. The approximate number of signposted trees gives an idea of the scale of this special feature of the park.

The Coulée verte des Monges offers something different. It is a municipal nature park that invites visitors to go for a walk. The two green spaces can therefore be distinguished by their specific focus: the signposted trees are a highlight of Parc Joseph Donat, while the Coulée verte is a nature park for walking. If you like to spend time outdoors during your stay, you will find two distinct themes here, rather than just a general description of a park.

Culture in the open air

L’Aria has an open-air theatre where concerts and performances take place under the open sky. For the 2026–2027 programme period, the offering includes theatre, music, circus and programmes for young audiences; the programme genres may evolve. L’Aria thus combines a distinctive setting with several performing arts. The difference from the historic buildings is clear when choosing a cultural focus: here, the emphasis is on performances and concerts, while Pont Saint Clément, the Château d’en Haut and Saint-Clément Church are about architecture and local history.

Bridge, château and church

The medieval Pont Saint Clément spans the Aussonnelle’s two banks with its two arches. Its design and its connection to the river go hand in hand: the bridge has two arches and connects the banks. The Château d’en Haut offers a different perspective on local history. Perched atop a hill, it overlooks Cornebarrieu, which itself lies in a bend of the Aussonnelle.

The Château d’en Haut dates from the early modern period, which here covers the 15th to the 18th century. It may originally have been a medieval fortification on naturally fortified ground. This historical classification distinguishes between a cautiously worded possibility about its earlier history and the period to which the Château d’en Haut is assigned. Thus, the medieval fortification remains a possibility, while the château itself is dated to the early modern period.

Saint-Clément Church also has historical details. It appears to date mainly from the 16th or 17th century. Its bell gable contains four bells, including one from 1558 and another from 1617. The dating of the church remains a cautious estimate, whereas two individual bells are assigned specific years. Visitors interested in architectural history can thus distinguish the estimated date of the church building from the dates of individual bells.

A fairytale adventure in a natural setting

La Forêt Magique de Toulouse offers the public a fairytale adventure in a protected natural setting at the Domaine de Pontié in Cornebarrieu. The estate is 15 minutes from Toulouse. This experience differs from the walks, cultural programme and historic buildings in its fairytale adventure theme. Since activity details may change seasonally, it is advisable to check what is currently on offer before visiting.
