Aurin invites you to plan your stay around its heritage, horse riding activities or walking routes. These highlights are particularly evident at the small Église Sainte-Apollonie, the mill, which can only be viewed from the outside, and routes with different stated distances. When planning your visit, it is worth keeping in mind both the character of each place and its specific visiting conditions.
The Church of Sainte-Apollonie and its history
The Église Sainte-Apollonie is a small rural church in the Lauragais. It was built in the 16th century and restored and vaulted in the 19th century. Its building history therefore comprises two clearly distinct phases: the construction of the church and later works, which also included vaulting.
The side portal and wall paintings by Bernadi and Pradal are protected as a historic monument. This protection therefore applies to specific parts of the church. One dated notice concerns the summer of 2026: on 11 August, the church was closed for construction work, so the Sainte-Apollonie celebration on 22 August was exceptionally moved to the Église Saint-André. If you would like to visit the church at a later date, check current access arrangements.
Moulin d’En Touret: a mill viewed from the outside
The Moulin d’En Touret is a masonry tower windmill with two pairs of millstones. The historic site is privately owned and can only be viewed from the outside. So do not plan to visit the interior of the mill. A miniature mill, built by the miller in 1911, also stands nearby. A look at the mills thus reveals two different scales: the masonry tower windmill and its smaller counterpart, which is also considered historic.
For travel by public transport, the AURIN–Castelvert stop is a useful landmark: it is less than a 30-minute walk from the Moulin d’En Touret. It is served by the Revel–Caraman–Toulouse line. Check the current timetable before planning your journey.
Routes and choosing a distance
Le Papillon d’Aurin runs from Sainte-Apollonie towards Lac de Saint-Sernin, follows the lakeshore to the Ball Trap, and then returns via a farm. This route is listed as 10.4 kilometres long and taking 2.5 hours. The description therefore identifies several waypoints as well as a time estimate to help with planning.
Another option is the “Rando 7km200” walk: it is 7.2 kilometres long and takes about two hours. If you would like to cover a longer distance on this walk, it can be extended along the Saune to a total of 12 to 13 kilometres. The Rando thus has two stated distance options, while a separate duration is given for the Papillon. The route descriptions therefore offer different reference points for choosing, without requiring you to treat the walk and the Papillon duration as equivalent planning estimates.
