The fresco on the Blousson-Sérian water tower depicts the commune’s landscapes, history and thermal activities. The commune also has two churches from different periods and a cycling route through the Laüs valley. This offers several points of focus for planning: local history and architecture on the one hand, and cycling through a specifically described landscape on the other. The former thermal station is also part of the area’s history.

Landscape and Location on the Laüs

The Ruisseau du Laüs crosses Blousson-Sérian from southeast to northwest and flows into the Bouès. Its direction of flow and destination provide a specific geographical description of the stream. The Laüs valley, by contrast, is the landscape reference given for the cycling route. The stream and the valley are two distinct points of reference that can be kept separate when reading the descriptions of the commune and the route.

Churches, Water Tower and Thermal History

Blousson-Sérian was formed in 1822 through the merger of the communes of Blousson and Sérian. The Église Notre Dame de l’Assomption in the north dates mostly from the late 18th century, making it older than this merger. The Église Saint Michel in the south was built in the 19th century. The two churches therefore have different points of reference in time: a predominantly late-18th-century building history in the north and a 19th-century building in the south.

The water tower stands on a hill in the northwest of the commune. Its fresco depicts landscapes, history and thermal activities, bringing together three themes that also shape the area’s history. From 1842 to 1939, Blousson-Sérian had a small thermal station where rheumatism and other joint conditions were treated. Today, only the house remains; it is privately owned. So do not plan to visit it as a publicly accessible attraction.

Cycling Route Through the Laüs Valley

The “Les bains de Blousson-Sérian” route leads from Marciac towards Ricourt through the Laüs valley to Blousson-Sérian. It is designated for road cycling, e-bikes, VTC bikes and mountain biking. The route lists 193 m of elevation gain and 193 m of elevation loss. The same figures can be read directly as a pair for ascent and descent; the listed types of cycling are separate planning information. If you are considering the route, you can compare both with your own cycling plans.

Accommodation and Bicycle Service

Gîte Au Moulié is housed in a renovated old building and offers views of the Pyrenees. Bicycles are available there free of charge by reservation. If you would like to use this service, include the bicycle reservation in your plans. This information answers different questions from the route and its elevation gain and loss.
