Capdenac-Gare can be explored through two distinct themes: cultural landmarks and trails ranging from an easy town walk to moderate hikes. The station, bridge and church offer a glimpse of architecture and history; the trails vary in length, difficulty and scenery. In summer, seasonal activities on the water and outdoors are also available. You can tailor your stay according to whether you want to focus on local history, longer hikes or a mix of both.

Culture between the station, bridge and church

With its Art Deco canopy, Capdenac-Gare railway station is one of the town’s sights. The usual operational access restrictions apply when visiting the station area. The Eiffel Bridge offers another glimpse into history: it was commissioned in 1862. Public access conditions may vary, so check them before your visit.

The Church of Notre-Dame-des-Voyageurs is designed in the neo-Gothic style and features contemporary stained-glass windows by artist Marc Hénard. The building thus brings together a neo-Gothic style and contemporary art. The Chapelle de Massip offers a different perspective: during the Second World War, it was a refuge where nuns Denise Bergon and Marguerite Roques hid 83 Jewish people, including 71 children. Visits depend on the local schedule.

From a town walk to moderate routes

The Parcours urbain is an easy five-kilometre walk through the heritage and history of Capdenac-Gare. The buildings tell the story of the town. It is the shortest of the three routes described and a good place to start. Check locally whether the route is signposted and available.

At 13.6 kilometres, La Cheminote offers a longer hike around Capdenac-Gare. Rated moderate, it runs between the Lot Valley and the first foothills of the Causse Blanc. Trail conditions can change seasonally, so take this into account when planning.

The Parcours vert is also moderate, but is 12 kilometres long. It passes through wooded and unspoilt areas around Capdenac-Gare. Along the way are castles, a mill and other picturesque spots. In terms of length alone, the Parcours vert is 1.6 kilometres shorter than La Cheminote; the scenery and destinations along the two routes also differ.

Summer activities and a behind-the-scenes look at production

Every summer, the Base nautique de Capdenac-Gare offers a range of activities on the water and outdoors. The offering is seasonal, so check opening times before travelling. This makes it easy to plan this part of your stay specifically for the summer.

Raynal et Roquelaure has been offering public tours since 2011. The company shares its expertise and the secrets behind preparing a ready-made meal. Guided group visits are planned for 2026. Check dates and availability in advance if you would like to include this tour in your plans.
