Ferdrupt offers specific ways to explore nature and get active, as well as discover culture and local products: the Mereille wetland features several named habitats and numerous walking trails, while circular routes with distance and duration details help you plan your day. Other highlights include a church with an organ built in 1969, a conifer garden and insights into beekeeping. For your trip, you can start by choosing based on the activity and time required.

Mereille: Wetland and trails

The Tourbière de Mereille in Ferdrupt is designated a Type 1 continental ZNIEFF. The Mereille complex includes mown meadows, partially wet spruce forests, fens and peatlands. The different habitat types give this area a clear focus on nature. Numerous walking trails pass through the wetland, where nature sports are also practised. If you want to focus your stay on nature and outdoor activity, you can find both in this area.

Circular routes and outdoor activities

The Circuit poussette de Ferdrupt is a 3.4-kilometre circular route that takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes. It starts at Ferdrupt Town Hall. The Circuit de la Rochaule is 6 kilometres long and is listed as taking two hours. It is a circular route of moderate difficulty and is designated as a family walk for families with children; it starts at the car park by the town hall. The stated durations are similar, while the Rochaule is the longer route at 6 kilometres compared with 3.4 kilometres. When choosing, you can therefore focus more on your preferred distance or the stated duration.

The Grandrupt mountain valleys and the Colline de Ferdrupt are listed as tourist attractions along the Circuit de la Rochaule. Halfway along the route, a Haut-fer is one of its places of tourist interest. The Voie verte runs through Ferdrupt and is suitable for walking, cycling and rollerblading. This means you can choose an activity that suits your interests as well as exploring the circular routes.

Garden, landscape and local culture

The Jardin des Baussottes is a conifer garden; guided tours are available by appointment. As the arrangements for guided tours may change, arrange a time before your visit. The glacial cirque of Xoarupt is also one of Ferdrupt’s sights. The garden and cirque offer two different themes for visitors who do not want to focus their stay solely on walking routes.

The Church of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul in Ferdrupt houses an organ built by Gonzalès in 1969. For travellers interested in church music, it is a specific cultural point of interest alongside the town’s nature and outdoor activities.

Honey and beekeeping

At the Rucher de la Colline, you can taste honey and discover various beehive products. You can also watch honey being extracted at the apiary from the sales area. In 2024, the educational offering was expanded to include a film about the work of beekeepers, an educational exhibition with a family quiz and a visible observation hive. As opening arrangements may change, check them before your visit.

If you are considering Ferdrupt as a place to stay, you can use your travel priorities as a guide: the circular routes have specific distance and duration details, while guided tours and visits to the Rucher suggest checking the relevant arrangements in advance.
