Bras-sur-Meuse combines a varied network of trails with notable sites from the town’s history. When planning your trip, you can weigh up two different priorities: activities on the trails, or culture and remembrance centred around the parish church and war cemetery. If you first decide what you want your stay to focus on, you can choose Bras-sur-Meuse more thoughtfully as a destination and then look for a holiday apartment that suits your plans.

Choose trails by distance and activity

The “itinéraires entre rivières et forêts” network comprises 14 circular routes ranging from five to 20 kilometres, with trails for hiking, horse riding and mountain biking. To narrow down your options, you can consider two questions separately: what distance suits your plans, and what activity would you like to do? Five kilometres is the shortest option and 20 kilometres the longest; this range helps you gauge the distance you have in mind.

The Circuit des palots is 17 kilometres long and passes through Bras-sur-Meuse. It offers views across the valley and returns to the village along the left bank of the Meuse. In terms of distance, the route is close to the 20-kilometre upper limit of the “itinéraires entre rivières et forêts” network. Another option is the “Circuit Rando n° 77 – De la nécropole au balcon des fortifications” circular walking trail, which passes through Bras-sur-Meuse, Charny-sur-Meuse and Marre. These routes offer different points of comparison: the Circuit des palots for its length, valley views and riverside return, and the Circuit Rando for the places it passes through.

Sports at Beach de Bras

Beach de Bras offers beach volleyball and has a multi-sports court. These are specific sporting activities in addition to the routes, which you can choose according to distance and activity. When planning your trip, you can decide whether to make a route or the facilities at Beach de Bras your starting point.

Parish church and remembrance

The Saint-Maurice parish church in Bras-sur-Meuse was built in 1927, a few metres from the site of the former church. The earlier church had been destroyed in 1916. The dates mark two events in chronological order: the destruction of the previous building and the construction of the parish church eleven years later.

The Cimetière de Bras sur Meuse is a war cemetery. It is the resting place of 4,537 French soldiers who fell in the First World War (1914–1918). A further 2,000 soldiers are commemorated in two ossuaries. Both the cemetery and the ossuaries are therefore part of the remembrance of the soldiers.

Find a holiday apartment to suit your travel interests

When looking for a holiday apartment in Bras-sur-Meuse, it helps to decide first what you want to focus on: should your trip centre mainly on a route, the sports facilities, or local history and remembrance? This keeps your choice of destination connected to your travel interests, while you can arrange your individual plans at your own pace.
