Tresserre’s elevated location at 158 metres offers panoramic views from the sea to the mountains. The village also has clearly defined cultural and culinary attractions: the Church of Saint Saturnin, historic paths, the Marché gourmand and events centred on wine. When planning your stay, you can focus on architecture and local history, historic paths, or market and wine events.

Saint Saturnin and the history of its architecture

The restored Church of Saint Saturnin dates back to around the 10th century. It is Romanesque in style and has a single-nave layout. A document signed by Bernard Adalbert de Campmany attests to the church’s existence in 1142. These two historical reference points serve different purposes: the date around the 10th century describes its origins, while the document names a year in which the church was already in existence.

The architectural details also provide two different clues: the style identifies the building’s architectural period, while the single-nave layout describes its spatial form. Behind the church, architectural remains of the former Palau have been preserved in some houses and walls. The church and traces of the Palau thus offer different architectural points of interest: the religious building on the one hand, and preserved architectural evidence in houses and walls on the other.

Historic paths and hiking

One historic path in Tresserre runs alongside one of the Way of St James routes. A second historic circular trail lies nearby. It presents the biographies of officers from the Battle of Boulou who later distinguished themselves on the battlefields of Napoleon’s Grande Armée; other information panels cover military strategy. The two trails therefore have different points of interest: one is notable for its location beside a Way of St James route, while the other focuses on biographies and strategy. Check the condition of the second circular trail before setting out on a hike.

In November 2024, the municipality introduced the Pas des Templiers trail as a new hike. The description at the time located the starting point below Place des Oliviers and mentioned connections between the municipality and Villemolaque and Passa. If you plan to take this hike, check the current condition of the trail beforehand.

Market, wine and festival dates

The Marché gourmand takes place on Friday evenings from 5 to 9 p.m. at Place des Oliviers. Fresh local produce is sold there by artisans, traders, livestock farmers and other producers. The market provides a specific date and time for a stay focused on local products. As exact schedules may change, it is advisable to check the date and time before your visit.

The Association Domaines et caractère organises wine tastings and events celebrating the wine culture and traditions of Tresserre and the Aspres. If you plan to attend a tasting, confirm its availability beforehand. Another event on the festival calendar is the Festa de les Bruixes, held on the last weekend of October. Programmes may vary from one edition to the next, so check the specific festival dates before your trip. The market, wine events and Festa de les Bruixes offer different occasions around which to plan your stay.
