In Marguerittes, visitors can choose from several distinct experiences: the Combe des Bourguignons showcases a garrigue shaped by agriculture, the Chemin des Sources takes you through the historic irrigation heritage, and the Montrodier loop lets you combine your walk with a visit to a restored capitelle. The trail lengths and themes make it easy to choose outings based on your interests.
Garrigue and Waterways
The Combe des Bourguignons is a garrigue valley shaped by rural farming: agricultural terraces, dry-stone capitelles, irrigation channels and various crops are all part of this landscape. An interpretation trail of around 2 km features about 40 explanatory panels. They cover historic farming techniques, the daily lives of the Rachalans and cultivated garrigue. A digital educational trail at the Combe uses geolocated missions and quizzes through the Explorama smartphone app.
The Combe is easily accessible on foot. There is a car park and a shaded picnic area at the entrance. A large part of the Marguerittes garrigue is also classified as a ZNIEFF and ZICO, and consists of forests with Aleppo pines and holm oaks.
The Chemin des Sources takes you through Marguerittes' historic irrigation heritage. The loop passes fountains, streams and a noria; the heritage also includes springs, channels and boreholes. There are three route options: a full 12 km route and two 6 km loops. The path is accessible on foot or by bicycle and follows yellow “Promenade & Randonnée” markings from the Fédération Française de Randonnée.
Walks of Different Lengths
The Montrodier loop is 5.41 km long, rated easy and marked with yellow PR signs. Its highest point is 166 metres. The starting point is the Montée des Carrosses car park on the Route de Poulx (D135) in Marguerittes. Just a few metres from the car park is a restored dry-stone capitelle, which you can visit at the start or end of the loop. This walk combines a specific route distance with a glimpse of traditional stone construction.
History and Olive-Growing Culture
The Chapelle Saint-Pierre is a former parish church first mentioned in 1156 and restored in 2020. The Maison de la Garrigue et Musée de l'Olivier focuses on olive-growing culture: topics include the Rachalans, olives in Marguerittes, olives and olive oil, and the history of the olive tree. If you plan to attend a workshop, check the date in advance.
The Source de l'Agarne at Mas Praden was restored and opened to the public in 2023. The Club d'Histoire et d'Archéologie de Marguerittes offers guided tours there on the second Saturday of each month. Check the current events calendar for your preferred date.
A Seasonal Destination for Families
Kids Paradise is a family water park in Marguerittes. It offers swimming pools, water slides and play areas for children under six, children aged six and over, and adults. Children may enter the park only when accompanied by at least one adult. As the park operates seasonally and entry rules may change, check the season dates and current entry rules in advance. This helps you plan your visit around your travel dates without confusing it with the walking and cultural destinations.
