In Servance, hiking routes of varying difficulty lead to natural and cultural attractions. To help you choose, two trails start in the village and differ clearly in length and difficulty: the Sentier de la verrerie is a difficult 9.5-kilometre hike; Entre étangs et prairies is an easy 3.4-kilometre walking trail. There is also a waterfall with a short circular trail and a chance to learn about local history. You can plan your stay around the activities that interest you most.

Hiking among peat bogs, ponds and forests

Entre étangs et prairies is an easy, 3.4-kilometre walking trail that starts in Servance. It winds through peat bogs, ponds, forests and meadows across the Plateau des 1000 étangs, showcasing its biological diversity. At 9.5 kilometres and rated difficult, the Sentier de la verrerie offers a clear contrast.

The Sentier de la verrerie passes through the Saint-Antoine state forest and close to a former glassworks, where window glass and drinking glasses were made until 1837. The trail also leads to the Bataillon de Choc memorial at Côte 820, commemorating the battles of the 1944 liberation. The forest, the history of glassmaking and remembrance are the defining themes of this longer hike. Check local trail conditions before setting out on either route.

The Saut de l’Ognon

The Saut de l’Ognon is a 14-metre-high waterfall in Servance. A 600-metre circular trail with information panels leads to it. At 600 metres, this route is shorter than either hiking option and leads to a distinct natural attraction.

At the entrance to Servance, the Saut de l’Ognon has a car park with picnic tables. Before your visit, check the condition of the facilities and local trail conditions.

Church, viewpoint and sawmill

The church in Servance dates from 1689. Inside are an 18th-century Baroque high altar and figurative stained-glass windows from the 20th century. Its construction date and interior bring together several eras in one place.

The Montandré calvary cross stands at an elevated spot and offers wide views over the Vosges saônoises. It is another notable cultural site in Servance.

In the municipality of Servance-Miellin, the restored Martin sawmill features a millrace, waterwheel and saw frame. Tours are available on request; arrange your visit locally. For a different glimpse of the area, visit the Chèvrerie des Bois Pâturés in Servance, which offers free farm visits. The options also differ in practical terms: the farm visit is free, while tours of the sawmill are available on request.
