Three topics stand out when planning a stay in Pusy-Et-Épenoux: cultural heritage, nature and activities involving horses. The Château de Pusy brings together architectural history and specifically designated protected areas, including selected interior spaces. At the Espace Nature Découverte, the focus is on the arboretum, protected fruit trees and aquatic wildlife. Check the latest details in advance for equestrian and therapeutic activities.

Châteaux, church and regional art

Count Jean-Xavier Bureaux de Pusy (1750–1806) built the Château de Pusy in the 18th century. The château is listed in the inventory of historic monuments; it was listed by decree on 8 April 1991. The protected area includes the entrance gate and its grille, as well as the façades and roofs of the outbuildings and main building. In the main building, it also covers the basement level, the staircase up to the first floor, the round salon and its furnishings on the raised ground floor, and the eastern corner room and its furnishings on the raised ground floor. The designation encompasses exterior features as well as specifically identified rooms and their furnishings. The château park was redesigned as a French garden with a pond.

The Church of Saint Martin dates from the 16th century and is dedicated to Saint Martin. It houses one of the finest Baroque altarpieces in Haute-Saône, which is classified as a historic monument. The church is also included on the Route des retables de la Haute-Saône. Several aspects complement one another: the date and dedication provide context for the church itself, while the altarpiece is its artistic highlight and the route places it in a regional context.

The Château d’Épenoux is an ensemble built in the 18th century, comprising a château, chapel, orangery, manor house and kennel. It is surrounded by a six-hectare park. Unlike the Château de Pusy, whose protected rooms and features are specifically identified, the focus here is on the group of buildings and the size of the park. This highlights two different scales of architectural and garden heritage: a defined protected area with selected interior spaces, and an ensemble of several buildings with an expansive park.

Arboretum, fruit trees and aquatic wildlife

The Espace Nature Découverte includes an arboretum and a conservation garden with more than 50 protected fruit trees. The arboretum area is open year-round. The arboretum and conservation garden each emphasize a different aspect of nature: one focuses on trees, while the other is specifically dedicated to preserving protected fruit trees.

The Espace Nature Découverte also includes a pond for observing aquatic wildlife. Benches and picnic areas complement the visitor facilities. The range extends from trees and fruit trees to wildlife by the water; year-round access applies specifically to the arboretum area. If nature observation is important to your travel plans, you will find several clearly distinct topics here.

Horse riding and equine-assisted therapy

Haras du Val des Charmes is a riding school with a qualified riding instructor on site who offers private lessons. The Haras also offers rides to discover Haute-Saône on horseback. Private lessons and rides represent different kinds of equestrian activities: one is instruction, the other a chance to explore Haute-Saône on horseback. Check current operating details before your trip.

Equine-assisted therapy is offered at Hameau du Val des Charmes, where the horse is used as a therapeutic intermediary. This offer differs in purpose and approach from private lessons and rides. Check current availability before making plans.
