Église Saint-Clément and local history
The Église Saint-Clément has an elongated floor plan with a nave and a south aisle comprising five bays with rib vaults. The choir has one rib-vaulted bay and ends in a flat wall pierced by a three-light window. The bases of the central pillars date from the 13th century.
Foulain already existed as a village in the 12th century. Its lordship initially depended on the Vignory family or house; in the 15th century it belonged to the Choiseul family and later to the Barony of Sexfontaines. Before the 17th century, a large rectory served as a residence for clergy from other villages.
