An oak with a trunk circumference of around 5.70 metres, a trail of remarkable trees and contemporary stained-glass windows reveal different sides of Vosnon. There is also an embroidery workshop that can be visited by appointment and a snail farm. When planning your stay, you can consider the natural heritage, church and crafts as different reasons to explore, while keeping their respective visiting arrangements in mind.

Natural heritage: Pied Cornier oak and trail

The Pied Cornier oak has an approximate trunk circumference of 5.70 metres. According to experts in water and forestry, it is believed to be at least 800 years old. It was also ranked among the top ten trees in a national survey for inclusion in the French register of remarkable trees. The 5.70 metres should therefore be read as an approximate measurement, and its age as an expert estimate.

The route to the oak leads from Vosnon in the direction of Saint-Mards-en-Othe. A sign at the edge of the forest points the way; from there, it is about 500 metres uphill, followed by 50 metres to the left. Check local information about the route before your visit.

Around thirty trees were selected for the Circuit des arbres remarquables following an inventory. The trail includes remarkable oaks, pear trees, lime trees and tulip trees. Direction signs and information and awareness-raising panels are also provided.

Those interested in a single specimen will find specific measurements and route information for Pied Cornier. The Circuit, by contrast, focuses on a selection of different tree species and is equipped with direction signs and information panels.

Church and textile crafts

Eglise Saint Blaise was built by local residents in 1956. Its contemporary stained-glass windows were created in 2021 by Atelier Cécile Boël. The church is opened on request through the town hall; check access arrangements there before your visit.

At the Pikwik workshop in Vosnon, visitors can discover computer-aided embroidery and the production of embroidered pieces using machines. Visits are available by appointment. Various embroidered items are offered on aprons, tea towels, and bath and household linen.

Visiting arrangements differ: the church is opened on request through the town hall, while workshop visits are available by appointment. Take these separate arrangements into account when planning.

Local production in the Forêt d’Othe

Les Escargots du Pays d’Othe is located in the commune of Vosnon, in the Aube département, on the edge of Burgundy and in the heart of the Forêt d’Othe. The farm raises French Gros Gris snails of the Helix aspersa maxima species and prepares them using traditional methods. This local production is defined by a specific producer, a named snail species and a traditional preparation method.
