Discover Revin through its architectural history, trails and activities along the Meuse. During your stay, you can choose between a walk to historic sites, shorter nature trails and longer hiking or mountain biking routes. The different route lengths and estimated times provide practical guidance for planning your days at your own pace.

Revin’s cultural history

The Maison Espagnole, also known as the Musée du Vieux Revin, is a renovated half-timbered house dating from the first half of the 16th century. Listed on the ISMH, the building now houses Revin’s local heritage museum. On the ground floor, the interior of a modest home belonging to a Revin family from 1920 to 1930 has been recreated. This brings the older half-timbered architecture and a depiction of later domestic life together in one place.

The Circuit du patrimoine de Revin starts at the Musée du Vieux Revin and takes visitors on a roughly 2.5-hour circular walk to the town’s historic and architectural landmarks. The Maison Espagnole is therefore both a museum and the starting point for this closer look at Revin’s architectural history. To find out more about individual protected features, visit the Église des Dominicains: built in the early 18th century, its red-brick façade is influenced by 18th-century Flemish architecture.

The Église des Dominicains was added to the ISMH on October 18, 1926. The pulpit and two carved oak choir stalls have their own protection statuses: the pulpit was listed on September 30, 1911, and the two stalls on July 31, 1970. Another cultural event held regularly takes place on June 13. Every year on this date, local residents and dignitaries gather at the Calvaire des Manises in the Père des Chênes clearing for a commemorative ceremony.

Trails for different time budgets

For a shorter walk, head to the Bois de la Chapelle. It is freely accessible year-round; the easy route takes about 30 minutes and also includes a fitness trail. Another way to combine nature and heritage is the “De Falières au Bois de la Chapelle” discovery trail. It starts at Revin’s quays, is six kilometres long and is open to everyone. Around ten information panels explain notable places through the themes of nature and heritage.

For longer routes, take a look at the “Au pays de Revin” hiking trail network. Starting at the Relais VTT, it comprises seven circular routes ranging from eight to 22 kilometres. For mountain biking, the VTT-FFC area in Revin has four signposted routes, numbered 13 to 16, as well as connecting route No. 5. The distances and number of routes can help you choose, without needing to infer a walking or cycling time from them.

The Site du Parapente is a launch site for paragliders, with views across the entire town of Revin. It is accessible only on foot via the “George Sand” trail. The Voie Verte Trans-Ardennes can also be reached on foot in Revin: access is at Quai Quinet. The route, which is more than 130 kilometres long, runs from Givet to Mouzon and is suitable for walks without cars or other motorised vehicles.

Experiences on the Meuse and practical extras

Seasonal pedal-boat trips depart from the car park at Revin harbour, next to the motorhome parking area, and offer a way to discover the Meuse. As trips are seasonal, check dates and prices in advance. Cyclists can use a service point in Revin near the museum, campsite and Voie Verte Trans-Ardennes. There, e-bike users can charge their bikes for free and check their tyre pressure.

The Maison Espagnole also offers the immersive escape game “L’ENQUÊTE DE R’VIN”. Participants take on the role of customs officers and look for clues to thwart smugglers’ plans. Check availability and booking details in advance. The Revin Rando Patrimoine association organises walks and guided tours of Revin, the Maison Espagnole museum and the church; here too, it is advisable to check dates and availability in advance.

For an overnight stay outdoors, the Parc naturel régional des Ardennes has set up bivouac sites in Hannappes, Montcornet, Gespunsart and Revin. Bivouacking is permitted at these sites. Depending on your interests, you can combine a stay in Revin with culture, trails, a seasonal activity on the Meuse or an overnight bivouac.
