The 10,000 m² Jardins de la Régie, the building history of the Château de Fontpertuis and a route on the edge of the Sologne reveal different sides of Lailly-En-Val. There is also the Étang communal, with fishing opportunities and facilities, as well as art workshops for adults. Gardens, architecture, landscape and other activities therefore offer distinct ways to plan your stay.

Gardens: plant life and visiting times

The Jardins de la Régie cover 10,000 m² and feature a richly varied range of plants. A collection of Aucuba, recognised by the Conservatoire des Collections Végétales Spécialisées (CCVS), provides a specific botanical highlight. The size sets the scale of the gardens, while the collection draws attention to a particular group of plants. Visitors interested in gardens or Aucuba will find two clearly distinct points of interest here.

Self-guided visits without a reservation are possible on the weekend of the Rendez-vous aux jardins event, the following Saturday, every Friday afternoon in June, and during the Journées du patrimoine weekend. Check the specific event dates before travelling.

Château history at the Château de Fontpertuis

The Château de Fontpertuis is surrounded by moats; the estate includes a dovecote, an orangery, a greenhouse and a kennel. In 1858, the family of the Dukes of Lorge had a new main building constructed in place of the earlier building. The outbuildings were built around 1890 by Orléans architect Pagot and builders Guilletdoux and Gervaise. These construction phases help distinguish the main building from the later outbuildings in terms of when they were built.

A route on the edge of the Sologne

The route on the edge of the Sologne is 9 km long, takes about 3 hours and is rated easy. It runs alongside fields and woodland edges, through the forest and then back into open countryside. The route also offers a lovely view of the Sologne landscape. The distance, approximate duration and difficulty rating answer different planning questions, providing guidance on length, time required and level of difficulty.

When planning your day, the route and the gardens involve different time considerations: the gardens have limited visiting hours, while the route is listed as taking about three hours. If you would like to combine garden visits with a walk, plan around the respective times.

Pond and art workshops

Anglers will find suitable fishing conditions at the Étang communal. There is also a playground and a picnic area. In addition to fishing, the pond therefore offers two specific facilities for visitors.

At Atelier Tuffe Art, Evelyne Richer began organising art workshops for adults in 2005. This is a distinct opportunity to engage with art in Lailly-En-Val. If you would like to include a workshop in your stay, check the current dates in advance.

Historical dates

A Romanesque church in Lailly-En-Val is mentioned in 1139. Together with the construction of the Château’s main building in 1858, this spans a considerable period: the reference to the church dates back to the 12th century, while the château’s construction phase belongs to the 19th century.
