The Étang des Lévrys showcases a distinctive natural setting in Nouan-Le-Fuzelier: the old, man-made pond covers 28 hectares, and heathland, oaks and birches line the grounds. There are also marked circular trails and horse-related activities. This means nature, outdoor activity and cultural themes can each be a focus when choosing a destination—not as a fixed programme, but as different ways to shape your stay.

Circular Trails and the Sologne Landscape

Nouan-Le-Fuzelier has at least eight marked and signposted circular trails for walking or cycling. One of them goes around the Étang des Lévrys. If you are looking for a route with a clearly defined landscape focus, you can distinguish it from Sologne à Vélo: Nouan-Le-Fuzelier is a starting point for this Greenway towards Chambord and the Loire à Vélo. A local loop centred on the pond and a Greenway towards Chambord and the Loire à Vélo offer two different scales for planning a route. There are also numerous walking and riding trails, as well as cycling routes through nature, forests and the many ponds of the Sologne. The area around Nouan-Le-Fuzelier has one of the highest concentrations of publicly accessible ponds in the Sologne.

At the Étang des Lévrys

Around the pond, there is an observation point, a walking path, picnic tables and benches. These let you enjoy the waterside in different ways: the path draws your attention to the shoreline, while the tables and benches make it easy to plan a break. Together with the heathland, oaks and birches, they give you a concrete sense of what makes the Étang a nature destination. The observation point adds another place to stop along the walk.

Horse Rides and Carriage Rides

The Centre Equestre du Vieux Château offers horse and pony rides in the Sologne, lasting from one hour to a full day. The range from an hour-long ride to a full-day excursion makes duration a clear point of difference. Pony introductions are available for children aged two to twelve; carriage rides through the Sologne forest are also offered. The activities therefore differ in duration, mode of transport and age range. Check the dates and availability of the rides, pony introductions and carriage rides before your trip.

Architecture and Cultural Attractions

The Château de Moléon dates back to a 15th-century building and was expanded in the 17th and 19th centuries. It is characteristic of the brick architecture of the Sologne’s châteaux. The sequence of the original building and later additions gives its architectural history several distinct periods; its brickwork also places the château within a regional architectural tradition. The Église Saint-Martin was listed as a protected historic monument by decree on 7 November 1929. Parc Cauchoix is a theme park featuring six replicas of mythological statues from the Louvre. Check before visiting whether this display is currently available.
