Noizay offers different ways to experience culture, wine and outdoor activities: the Château and Église Saint-Prix provide historical highlights, Domaine de Beauclair offers Vouvray tastings, and a cycling loop takes you through vineyards, hillside terrain and troglodyte hamlets. When planning your trip, first consider which theme you want to shape your stay. Architectural and church history, wine tastings in a troglodyte cellar, and cycling each offer a distinct focus.

Architectural History and Church Art

The Château de Noizay was built at the beginning of the 16th century on the site of a feudal estate. In 1560, it served as an arsenal and weapons store for Castelnau, one of the most important leaders of the Amboise conspiracy. After a fire, it was rebuilt in the 17th century. This sequence shows different phases: the earlier feudal site, the construction of the Château, and its later military use before reconstruction.

The Église Saint-Prix dates back further: construction began in the 11th century. Notable features include stained-glass windows from the 16th and 19th centuries and a 16th-century Pietà. The church thus brings together architectural history and works of art from different centuries. In contrast to the Château, the focus here is on the development of a place of worship, with its stained-glass windows and Pietà; at the Château, the historical perspective is shaped by the former feudal estate, the military episode and the rebuilding.

Cycling Loop and Vouvray Wine

The Circuit vélo Amboise-Noizay – Boucle 12 passes through vineyards, hillside terrain and troglodyte hamlets. According to the tourist office's route description, checked in August 2026, you can reach the cycling loop from Amboise railway station via signposted Route 12; this access route adds 3 km. Count this extra distance separately from the circular route. This makes clear that the three kilometres are for the access route and should not be read as the length of the loop. Vineyards define the landscape along the ride, while a tasting focuses on the wines themselves.

Domaine de Beauclair is located on the eastern side of the Vouvray appellation, in the commune of Noizay. It offers various tastings of its Vouvray wines in a troglodyte cellar. Cellar tours are available by appointment. If you plan a cellar visit, arrange the appointment with the Domaine in advance. This lets you plan a specific wine-focused experience without treating the tasting or tour as part of the cycling loop.
