Jossigny is one of the old village centres of Labergement-lès-Seurre and is also a hamlet within the commune. The “Boucle Labergement les Seurre en passant par Chivres” hiking route starts in Jossigny and provides a specific starting point for exploring on foot. Ponds, woodland, historic buildings and the La Violette leisure complex add to the picture across the commune. Depending on your interests, hiking, scenery and local history can be considered as distinct themes.

On foot and through the landscape

The hiking route passes near a forest on the way to Chivres. On the return to Jossigny, it passes a washhouse. This identifies different sections of the route: the start in Jossigny, the landscape towards Chivres and a building before the return. These local points of reference give hikers specific details to help them place the route in their plans.

Labergement-lès-Seurre has seven ponds surrounded by dense woodland. Most of the built-up area of the commune lies on the plain south of the main RD 973 road and outside the Saône flood zone. The commune therefore brings together different landscape features: the predominantly flat built-up area and the ponds in the dense woodland. Some ponds may not be accessible because the access roads are private; bear this in mind if you are planning a detour.

Architectural history and local landmarks

The hamlets of Labergement-lès-Seurre largely share the same architectural features as the village centre. The Château Saint-Jacques is one example of the area’s architectural history: the château dates from the 18th century, and its outbuildings were remodelled in the 19th century. The château estate includes a courtyard, a park, farm buildings and buildings used for agricultural purposes. This makes it possible to distinguish the main building from the later changes to the outbuildings.

The Church of the Assumption of Mary is a 19th-century neo-Gothic building on the ridge of the village of Labergement-lès-Seurre. The Saint-Roch Oratory, located on the road to Beaune, also dates from the 19th century. Both buildings date from the same period, while the church’s neo-Gothic style and the oratory’s roadside location provide different points of reference.

The inscribed boundary stone in the Forêt de Champ Jarley was protected by decree on 28 April 1970. Its inscription refers to a branch road leading from the Beaune–Seurre road to Montmain. The Fontaine Bassinet, also known as the Fontaine des Princes, offers another way to explore local history. It is associated with a local legend according to which Louis XIV is said to have rested there in the shade of an oak tree that has since disappeared.

Another leisure option

The La Violette leisure complex in the village has a pump track. It offers a different focus from the hiking route: here, the emphasis is on a single leisure facility, while the route heads towards Chivres and leads back to Jossigny. If you are weighing up different types of activities, you can choose between a route with named local points of interest and a leisure complex in the village.
