Guidel-Plages combines the coast and walking trails with nature highlights around two ponds. For planning, you can choose between beach activities, two walks of different lengths and different features of the waterside landscape. You can first decide whether the coast, a particular route or the nature around the ponds should be the deciding factor. Specific questions about the season, route length and nature highlights can help.

Beach and summer activities

Plage du Fort-Bloqué stretches across Guidel-Plages and Ploemeur. This sandy beach is about two kilometres long and slopes gently.

In summer, activities include supervised swimming, beach games and building sandcastles, as well as shore fishing, Longe-CĂ´te (coastal walking in the water) and land sailing. Lifeguard supervision is specifically available in summer; the availability of other activities may also vary by season. Check the beach activities for your travel dates if they are to be a major part of your stay.

Comparing two walks

The Circuit autour de l’étang de Lannénec is an easy, 8.6-kilometre circular walk around the pond, starting at Camping de la Plage. The Circuit autour du Loc'h is an easy, 10-kilometre walk starting at the Fort du Loc'h car park. It follows surfaced paths around the Loc'h ponds and has educational information boards.

The Lannénec loop is 1.4 kilometres shorter; both routes are rated easy. Their difference is therefore not their difficulty rating, but mainly their distance, starting point and route. At Loc'h, surfaced paths and educational information boards are additional distinguishing features, while the Lannénec route specifically goes around the pond. This means you can consider the features of each walk as well as its length when making your choice.

Pond landscape and birdlife

Étang de Lannénec is the largest coastal pond in the département. It is home to numerous fish and birds, as well as remarkable flora. The circular walk thus pairs a specified route length with a landscape where wildlife and plant life are a particular focus.

At Loc'h, the protected area serves as a stopping place for migratory birds and a refuge for birds that overwinter there. This gives it a different nature focus from Étang de Lannénec: there, fish, birds and flora take centre stage, while here the focus is on stopping and shelter for birds during winter. The two ponds can therefore also be compared by their different nature highlights.

Planning priorities

When looking for holiday rentals in Guidel-Plages, you can put your interests in a clear order. Should your stay be shaped more by the coast and its seasonal activities, or would you like to make one of the easy walks the focus? If nature by the water is the deciding factor, you can compare Lannénec, with its flora and wildlife, with the birdlife at Loc'h.
